Anything me (4 wheeler) can do to make things easier?

When merging on the on ramp, turn your head and look over your shoulder; as big as I am, you won't see me just glancing in your mirror. Since you refuse to hang up and drive at least hold the phone in your right hand so you have some left side peripheral vision. Once you are on the highway/freeway step on it. Don't cruise along at ramp speed or gradually accelerate. For everyone's safety try to match the speed of traffic by the time you reach the end of the ramp.

I will not move out of the right lane to give you room to merge in urban areas although I will try to ride in the second lane to avoid changing back and forth between lanes. In rural areas I might move over; it all depends on the mood I'm in. If another big truck is coming on the highway I will ALWAYS move over. Watch for trucks on the on ramp and stay off my left side.

If you must be on my right side, ride as close as you can to the side of my truck/trailer so I can see you in one of the three mirrors I have on each side. If you are up more than one third the length of my rig and riding as far to the right as possible I cannot see you. Snug up and get on by. At night, especially in the rain expect to die if you are on my right side because it is that dangerous.

When I put on my turn signal I am not doing it just for fun. I AM CHANGING LANES. If I see you I'll do it gradually to get your attention but I AM moving into "your" lane. Do something. Speed up or drop back.

I thought I was the only one that felt that way

 

My blinker is on to signal my intent to move. I am not asking permission or telling you to block me in by trying to pass me. Don't just hang out on my side you can't see the other side of the truck I may have to move. If it comes down to me or the idiot hang around my side guess who is going in the ditch. Another reason to stay away from a truck is if a tire comes apart a part of the load falls off guess who gets to see it. Hopefully all you have to do is clean your pants

 

I haul overweight loads,permitted up to 90,ooo...I really appreciate the drivers who give me space,and have the sense to signal their intent.So many drivers on the road dont realise that they are putting their lives,and the lives of others in jeoperdy,by acting like fools around heavy trucks....In my opinion,there are a lot of people on the road,that dont have a clue,as to what the results of their inconciderate,and thoughtless behavior can be....

I drive city day in and day out... I see things people do wrong very frequently... 401 (Toronto, Ont) is a very busy highway.. So we have lots of idiots on the road.. Everyone is in a hurry to get no where..

As the statement above says, the more axles a truck has it tend to be needing them because of heavy weights.. I haul up to 130,000lbs and that doesn't get stopped in the blink of an eye... So give space unless you want to sign your own death certificate... People are always invading my space I leave for stopping doesn't matter if its raining, foggy, snowing, sunny, ice raining etc people always do it... STOP IT...

Like said don't make sudden moves.. I can't even remember how many times I have counted people come across from the hammer lanes over like 4 lanes of traffic to grab an exit last minute.. Cutting me off in the process... Is your life worth going to the next exit?? Or perhaps if you think your coming close to your exit get BEHIND the truck, don't speed up get infront of truck then slow down to find your exit... It's only a few extra seconds you'll be stuck..

The merging is a huge issue as stated already... HWY traffic has right of way, merging traffic doesn't... So don't make be put on my breaks, it takes a truck longer to gain the speed it lost breaking for you.. It takes you a lot less time to get behind the truck, get into the lane beside the truck and hit your gas... Trust me if you hit a vehicle and you were merging you will get charged (just happened to be a few months back, dude got into a blind spot trying to merge in like a moron and get got charged with improper lane change)

If I am slow going up the hill, then chances are I am gonna be coming down the other side quicker... So please don't pass going up the hill, so that when I go down the hill you cut back infront of my then put your brakes on... one word GRAVITY

If you scared of trucks don't make the situation worst.. So you the 4 wheeler is going slow, so the truck goes to overtake you, but then now you speed up.. So truck goes back behind you.. You slow down.. and then the steps repeat.. If you scare of the truck passing you then rather then acting like a moron.. Pull over or slow down and let the truck pass.. It will only take a few seconds.. Besides the trucker then looks like a moron blocking traffic in the passing lane trying to pass a car that keeps slowing down and speeding up...

So many issues I have with people and their crappy driving skills... You don't need to drive a truck to know how to have some common sense.. So when people use the excuse they didn't realize it was so hard to drive them or whatever... All you people that don't "know" anything about trucks.. WAKE UP.. It doesn't take a genius to see that a truck is bigger then your car so how can you not put that into perspective...

 

I'm actually thinking about getting a CB just to do it now.

 

had a lady wait for a car in front of me come to the corner and turn from a right turn lane.

I am less than 15 car lengths behind her, in a 40 mph zone, the lady on the right side street waiting to cross traffic decides to pull out in front of me slowly.

I had anticipated this ladies move and had already hit the jake and covered the brakes and started to slow and was about 30 when she looks at me, eyes WIDE open, you can see her mouth "OH ####" and punch the gas......

STUPID cars.......

 

wow i am so glad for thisd forum. i cant really add on to what has already been posted on here so i will just say i completely and whole heartedly agree with all the advice given here.
