That is probably the only exception, because it is a required medical device.

could you get around this by getting a nice battery like a optima put it in you cab under bed or so and have a more powerful inverter hooked up to that when you need it?

If you attend a Swift Academy YOU pay Swift $75.00 a week for 52 weeks.
Swift pays YOU $37.50 a week for 104 weeks. In theory if you stay a company driver for 2 years the school is free. If you quit, take a non-driving job at Swift, or become an O/O the repayment STOPS!

And how would you recharge that battery without having it wired in to the main circuit?

Don't try to get around things, it will only get you out of work.

If you work within the system (mostly) you can get along just fine.

Your plan would work, as long as they don't look too hard.
And if something happened - like a fire because of faulty wiring - well, you would lose your career - at the very least.

Swift has certain policies that you must abide by. If you can't, then find another company to work for.
And I promise you - there are far worse companies to work for.

Figure it this way. If you are in a Swift company truck, you follow their rules. Period. If you happen to get lucky and get a new truck, with all of the electronics, you will not know what might happen if they ever happen to hook up a computer and scan what is going on with your truck, and you will not have any idea what they might find. If you want to do something different, then become a owner. Then if you want a larger inverter, purchase it and take it to the Swift shop and have them install. The last time that I talked to them, they are not allowing even L/O to install their own. I have one, and it was installed by KW, so it was okayed

Trust me, in the middle of winter you will be using the hell out of that heater and be #### grateful for it. I've had it get so cold in the truck that while I have the heater full blast in the sleeper, I'll have water bottles freeze solid up front. Never underestimate the winter, especially if youre running all 48 states. On the plus side if you are running in cold temps you can just store stuff on the dashboard up against the windshield at night, and in the sleeper during the day, in lieu of using a cooler.
