I'm 5'10" and just under 300 lbs. Yeah I'm fat and out of shape and yet I've always gotten a two year card. don't take pills for blood pressure or anything.
Then again the companies I've worked for didn't deal with the bmi tests even though I'm 95 percent sure I don't have sleep apnea.
Always wear clean clothes and make myself presentable at the shippers and receivers.
I admit though I don't always look the best at the truck stops or wal mart when I'm stocking up, but hey since when do I care what people think about me.
Some companies are screening for it but most aren't.
They've been saying for years that the fmcsa will implement mandatory screening. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Will deal with it if and or when it actually happens. -
ClassB Thanks this.

I almost went to work for Bulkmatic in Hopkinsville, but went with another tanker company instead. You can make some big bucks with a company like Bulkmatic. -
Not a big deal (yet). Bmi is not mandated yet. Some of the bigger companies have the bigger guys checked. Then you have to pay 4k out of pocket to get the tests done. Some companies don't check for that.
If you ask me, its discrimination.ClassB Thanks this. -

I feel if your working for a big company they don't care to much as long as you pass their physical and can keep a medical card all the time. When I went for an interview for Pepsi the man told me this is a physically demanding job are you sure you can do it you have been just sitting behind a truck and I don't think you can handle it. I was 6'3 330 lbs he didn't give me the job a month later I got hired at another food service company and I've been told I'm one of the best workers they got now I'm 6'3 280 and put a lot of muscle on that was once there but left from sitting behind the wheel all day

BMI is a bunch of crap for sure.I'm 5'11 and 205.I run and lift weights regularly.Last physical (all test were fine)The Dr. told me I was "a little over weight and need to keep a close eye on it".As some have said, those standardized weight to height ratios are ridiculous.Best of luck Redex.
