Get the endorsements, can't get a job that requires them without, experience is another issue. As already mentioned you have to be very careful in Ice & Snow + it takes lots of practice to back them up but just have do it, there is no course.
I ran this 11 axle combo for 3yrs and can back around most places, never went to the ditch, got stuck in 2ft snow drift across dirt road in a blizzard 1 time, gunned drift at 50mph, nearly made it.

I agree get the endorsments, I used to pull gravel trains in michigan before the economy went to ####. Get all you can get and take any chance you get to drive. Practice makes perfect

Doubles are easier to drive than a 53' trailer in my opinion

    Driver,

Always good to have more qualifications than fewer.

Pulling doubles isn't hard. The only issue with doubles is the extra work hooking but a little practice and it's not bad.

    Good luck.

Agreed 150%! I pulled 53's, 48's, van and flatbed not mention straight tanker, and tractor dump and the easiest work i ever did as far as driving were doubles. The driving is easy but the best part about doubles is only going hub to hub( no going to a DuPont plant one day and a Piggly Wiggly distribution center the next) and sometimes dedicated hub to hub or but heads/drop and hook. Building the set is like anything, you will learn it and once you do it will become second nature. If i had some recent xp i would go back to it.

If they are so easy to pull why does everybody call them wiggle wagons? And why do you guys crowd the zipper when I am passing?

Because everybody hasn't drove them. We can only control the tractor not the pups, they do what they want.
