Did you check the "No Ebola" box on your job aplication?
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
I didn't read the whole thread, but I will say I think the newer generation has for years pampered themselves in a way that has hurt peoples immune systems quite a bit. I see many people afraid to touch a door handle without a paper towel in their hand anymore.
Kids don't play in the dirt like they once did, etc, etc. -
Our general society has been turning people more paranoid year after year, decade after decade, from when I was a kid.
Afraid to touch anything, get dirty, even to speak or look the wrong way.
A society that is afraid of everything will die out from withdrawal from life.
Good riddance.dwells40, Gearjammin' Penguin and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
I never wore shower shoes and I’m fine. I used the little towel to step on afterwards. And the truckstop towel to dry off with.
But then I did get all my vaccinations when I was a kid.
I guess the younger people have to worry about getting measles because their parents were stupid.faux_maestro, dwells40, TripleSix and 4 others Thank this. -

Outside of the food, I would suggest looking at the dates on things purchased. Wear some form of a shower shoe and tell the Lot Lizards bye.

Exactly why I don't want OTR.
I don't get sick too often but when i do it's a doosey. Lately I have been having headaches and they have been lasting all day my only issue currently.

Yes there are some prostitution in the trucks. It is rather not for a rational person to engage in that activity but the STD rates and so on is not worth the risk. Unfortunately a percentage of the population cannot not do it so off they go. Ive enjoyed a few good women in my time but very carefully.
My wife was in sleeper up in the downtown core of Rochester a few blocks from Guiness Ale Loading at the bullpen about the summer of 2001 I was going around my rig cleaning mirriors and happily going over the whole truck pretrip.
This pretty showed up near me, irish and maybe 25 she said you look good, you want to do a good time? I told her no thank you but you got my wife up there through that open window, a marine and you need to make yourself safe.
She took off down the block shoes off to run faster. Some of the other truckers older than us were telling us that this was a new one then and they were not exactly thrilled with the situation. It was a quiet place to bullpen while loading. Wife took it well because she had been taught whats what. Shes not stupid. Heard it all. And that was that. But there was that anger of a lioness protecting whats hers and it was difficult to contain.
Fast forward 20 years that part of Rochester has gentrified and became public housing projects. Guiness is still there like always. Probably the only good employer.
