Thirty year driver here. Floated gears for years. Love a good 13/18 speed. Started driving auto in 2015, currently in an I-shift. Never going back, unless I go back to tanker. These things are the greatest thing since sliced bread!

Started using I-Shift in Jan 2012.
    No regrets so far.
    Edit:
I forgot to mention the Disc brakes that I specked the truck with.
You go with Disc brakes once, you'll never forget the feeling.
You jump on them in an emergency, your QUALCOMM G-Force sensor
will report a crash to your safety department.
    That's how good they are.

Now this ^^^^ is a comment I can respect. I was scared of an auto in the mountains too, at first. But once I got comfortable with operating it, it made no difference to me.

The biggest mistake (IMHO) folks make when driving an auto is they try to drive it like a car. Its still a truck, you still need to know how to pick a gear and hold it. Depending on the transmission that can take some time to get used to.

How tall can the driver be?
It looks like a real small space in there.

    Notimeforsleep Thanks this.

The worst move I saw with an Auto was not in the mountains, but, in the city.
Making a fast left turn at a traffic light when the green came on.
The Sea Can hauler started too fast and it rolled it over in the middle of that intersection.
    He didn't looked too happy...

    Ye it is.
Until Scania will come back in NA.
    Possible later this year.
Under the Navistar patronage. And with the International diamond on the grill.
They'll bring the I6 engine, not the V8.
    At the beginning, at least.

    Notimeforsleep and bryan21384 Thank this.
