I already regret buying a truck. Been an owner op less than a month and already been towed, spent a week at the dealership while they tried to figure out these scr torque derate codes. Down another three days with a blown coolant line. Current plan is to pay this off as fast as possible and sell it.

Apply for a few more credit cards. It’s the American way. Enjoy freedom and a mountain of debt.

There are pros and cons to both it really depends on you the owner/driver to get what works for you and stay on top of it. I have a 2003 Pete 379 and a 2012 East end dump that I would not hesitate to put up against ANY new truck/trailer simply because of my maintenance rules. I do not "work" on the truck, I have Truckworx in Montgomery to do that. Yes I pay for service and I get service. I DO minor things because I LIKE to. I even grease the truck and trailer because it lets me SEE what is going on. Everyone is different and has their own situation. BUT remember this: If you are involved in an accident you better be able to PROVE that you are as good or better than a certified mechanic and shop. Todays litigious society is something you have to factor in to owning a truck these days.

Been there, done that. Took seven years for the charge offs to fall off my credit report.

You made a fair bit hunting scalps in the past. At least you got a fall back plan.

I started out with a brand new emissions truck. Held on to it and learned to fix everything I could, bought a spare twin truck and moved to a house with a shop even. Got sick of researching problems, finding parts, wrenching late into the evenings so I didn't ignore my family all day. So I bought a near new one again and the cycle repeats itself.

Worry about the payment or worry about fixing it. There's no right or wrong answer. I just know that right now, the new one with the chain around my ankle suits my current needs better.

Wish I sold the original one at year 4 and had a new hooded glider built when a guy could still do that. That's the regret
