One more thing I will ##### about as I sit here going through receipts that I hope no one ever has to deal with is when you are in any kind of wreck, good luck getting anything close to the money invested in an old truck back out of insurance for it, ~100k in recipts over 4 years and it’s “general maintained that doesn’t prolong the life of the truck”

More of that paid off truck magic this week

check valve from supply tank to primary tank, and supply tank to secondary. Check valve at air dryer, plus signal line and fittings at governor, ~$600

also $150 on an air tank for the trailer which while I didn’t loose a day on, I did have all of Tuesday off between my Monday night drop and my final Tuesday night drop, so 80 miles round trip to the yard and back to
    my final drop

oh and how come washer pumps never die on an empty tank? That was another $45 plus I’ll probably loose half a gallon changing it

Average maintenance for a truck like that, even if the work is done at a friendly shop, is no less than $20k - 25k per year. Year after year. It will never end.
A solo o/o with own numbers on the spot market in the last 2.5 years, who pays 10k plus for insurance, some even pay 15k or more, then additional $2k for IRP, $2k for parking, etc., also the office paperwork involved; compliance and book keeping, has a hell of a task to stay profitable enough to make it worth while than being a company driver.
