So do you get the hourly pay for 11 hours per shift or can it possibly be less hours per shift? As a 3rd party carrier we are paid by commission, no hourly. Commission is a percentage of the load (23-25%) which is calculated on 1) loaded miles 2) total barrels hauled. Also to calculate mileage we are given a rate sheet. We could drive a route with less miles or more miles to get the load to the LACT but at the end of the day it will not matter, we will get what they offer on the rate sheet.

Arky; I have been meaning to ask you what kind of safety stuff do you have to wear? Boots, fr clothing, h2s monitor, etc. Who pays for that?
-
I guess my problem is with being required to do 1/2 hour twice/day, but them not paying for it. When otr, I was never required to show 1/2 hour on either end. A 1/4 hour pretrip and flag a post trip was the way I always did it....and I could normally combine a pretrip with fueling which may be impossible here. I do understand that pre/post trips need to be more thorough on oil field equipment due to the off road driving. I just think that if they are going to require extra time to spent, they should compensate us for it....thats all. We did talk about a few ways to work with it yesterday though. It will likely be better than I originally thought....time will tell. -

Orientation Day 3:
Today, we are at an off-site training company. The morning was spent in h2s and fire training. The afternoon is being spent on CPR, blood borne pathogens, etc. Lots and lots of videos and power point presentations.
Notes for Day 3: H2S is scary stuff. Pay attention to this training.Chibob Thanks this. -
