I didn't know upgrades were still being done in Tunnel Hill. I just talked to a driver who said they upgraded a couple weeks ago in Austell(or so they said). I'm not a trainer(nor will I ever be) so I'll take your word on that. I thought I had read in a trade magazine that the percentage was 55% and it was bought by the investment group(venture capitalists) that already owned Link America. They kept the Arnold name because it is recognized industry wide as the #1 Regional Truckload carrier in America. I don't get paid enough to get bogged down in corporate details and as long as the settlements are right, they get me home ontime, my truck is running good and there's a preplan on my DT, I'm good. Also, signed a new lease this week on a 4 bedroom house and I can see the ocean from my driveway. That's what's UP!

NSB, are you still getting the hometime you were getting in the beginning? I was wondering because you had said in a post or two that you had three days at home. I was one of the lucky(?) Link drivers that hung out for the merge, and now the planners are saying that I can only take 48 hours at home regardless of how long I'm out.
Policy says 24 hours for every week, but 3-4 weeks still = 48 hours home...fuzzy math. Momma is P/O'ed about that. One solid day to get restocked , laundry and truck cleaned, then back on the road with no time for kick-back with the fam. For me, since I don't do well on nights, it means basically a 34.
Other than that, I'm still getting roughly the same miles and pay I was getting when I was with Link. Same DM, too, which is good. Overall, I'm happy with Arnold, but momma says if we can't get the hometime thing fixed, then I need to think about looking for a company that sticks to their policies... and no job is worth losing my family over. And she also blew a head gasket when she found out I was going to PA, OH, NY and so on. I was SW regional with Link...she and I both were cool with that... that was the deal with me going back on the road was if it were regional. We got past that change okay...but she won't budge on HT, and I have to agree with her.
But like I said...overall, I like Arnold. Other than HT, been good to me so far.

I started super-regional and ran for 10 days off for 2. Then they decided everyone was regional. OK, according to the driver manual. regional mans home weekly. Since then, I've always put in my time-off macro the day I head out for 7 days. Now, when you get a load home,but have to deliver in Tulsa on Fri morning, then DH 80mi home, Fri is NOT a day off. I've also had it play out where I go home under a load, get home Sat 21-2200, off Sunday, del in OKC Mon, DH back home 60mi, off duty by noon. Mon was NOT a day off, so I take Tue off.
That keeps them from shorting YOUR time, but then you don't get as many miles as you could have if you let them cut your time at home to a 34 reset. Sadly, I rarely needed a reset, due to the lousy 275-325mi runs.
In this ad on OKC Craigslist today, it says that orientation is 2 1/2 days, and starts on Monday & Wednesday. How new is this two-a-week orientation? Doe this mean that GP is overwhelmed with happy new faces seeking their fortunes?

Must have 4 months of recent verifiable tractor trailer driving experience with a good mvr.
Must be willing and able to be out 7-10 days and then home for 24-36 hrs.
Orientation starts every Monday and Wednesday for 2 ½ days. We will provide you a bus ticket and motel room.
After Orientation your truck will be assigned.

How do they arrive at the $40,000 compensation? I'm going to call and ask, but I suspect it will involve the "hump the dock" program that was implemented instead of a straight raise across the board. Gee, maybe it's salary...
Update at 1712: Yes, the compensation is based on .33mi, 2200-2500mi/wk, and the 5-load delivery minimum. Those numbers are correct, as long as you get the 5 load/wk min ($75), the truck is never in the shop for 2-5 days, you never get laid over, no 489mi runs with 4 days to do it, etc...Last edited: Apr 10, 2013
I was actually considering doing that at some point. I like the way they do the trainer pay...but I wonder if it's worth the headache. I would definitely need to have a DriverTech/P-net put in first.
No Satcom has been a major headache...how did our "ancestors" manage? LOL I say that, because my Pete doesn't have one. Now my DM and I have things worked out and we're still a good team, same as when we were at Link. However we had the P-nets in all the trucks, and the CSR's never bothered us in the middle of the night. But now... different ball game in a whole new ballpark!
I did manage to lose my cool with one of the CSRs in Jax a few nights ago. Picked up a load in the early am, ran the day out, ate and went to bed by 2100. Sound asleep, the phone rings at 2300...CSR. Fourth time in 5 days! Now surely, they can see the times of recent loads and make an educated assumption that the driver is probably well into his break, call in the AM. I know that loads for certain accounts require check calls every 2 hours (they do even with a Satcom), but between 1800 and 2300, there were none.
I still feel good about Arnold, but there are a lot of days I really miss Link!

I have been getting home every weekend and was home until Mon afternoon because of a dentist appt.(nice to have good dental insurance). I got home Fri night and still have been doing 2200+/wk. I passed hazmat and will be getting my new DL next month. I have been with Arnold a year next week. I have had $200 paychecks and $1200 paychecks and mostly $500-600 paychecks. I am working on figuring out totals for mileage and pay and will put them up soon. But as always, individual experiences may vary.
