Aside from wooden snow fences, why doesn’t WY build snow barriers right next to I-80?

you want a state to "throw in" some of thier money..??

    that's preposterous...that's blasphemy.....that's unheard of......that's just insane.

what they "could do", is start putting up tolls, like many other states, and charge TRUCKERS ONLY like some other states are doing or soon to be doing.....i think CT will be very soon to toll truckers only.

so tell me again please, "you want WY to throw in some of thier own money"..????

No, I meant to say that WY should just increase their IFTA tax. These taxes are always changing throughout the year anyway.

I was going to mention tolls but you beat me to it.

There is talk believe it or not of making all of i80 in WY a toll road.

What road in CT would that be? Can't imagine a toll on 95...no space and a toll would congest an already congested road even more.

You could not build a wall high or strong enough to hold back snow that will just keep adding weight until it fails in a major storm.

We had to spend a little time listening to our house settle under the burial of about 60 feet of drifts for a week. Creak here, groan there.

Hell the border walls were blown over down at the Mexico/US border a week or two ago in storm winds.

The snow fencing is the best technology available.

The best solution is not to run Wyoming or snow storms at all. Delivery appts be ######>

My solution is to go underground. Use the current modern Gottard tunnel technology from the Alps as the model for it 300 miles worth. Then it can storm all it wants all winter up above.

There is quite a bit of I 80 in Wyoming that has high fences to try and keep the animals from crossing the road. In those areas they have places where the animals can cross under the big road. I was sitting on the side of the road waiting on a tire shop once and watched the antelope come down and cross under the road. Was pretty cool.

Any wild life trying to imitate frogger on the fort bridger hill is seriously going to ruin the interstate in short order. I think they do a pretty good job with the wildlife.

    Why don't they build more?

Because it doesn't slow down high winds and it is not just snow that causes problems but the winds.

Why does Wyoming not position 10 rotators every 5 miles? You would think with winters like that the 'taters will rake in mounds of revenue.

Also when is it that man finds plowing a snow storm interstate to be futile. He plows. 30 minutes another foot, needs plowing again. Its endless.
