Efon when you get an driver that has driven in the past, but as been off the road for a while, do they trend towards less training time? Or have not coma across this type of driver before?

When I started, one of the other guys that started with me had worked for May 6 yrs prior. He went with a trainer from Pensacola to OH, and that was it...he drove to PA, got an 'abandoned' truck, and that was the end of his 'training'

wasnt sure if this was the right place to ask this question but here it goes. What is Mays policy on chaining up. If i feel its ok to chain up and proceed with caution may i do so with out problems, just one of the many questions i have rolling in my head lol.

That question will be answered at orientation by Tom, but you will carry chains and are going to need and use them. But,
you are the captain of your ship and if you feel it is "UNSAFE"
to proceed then you need to convey that message to your DM
via the Qual-com to C.Y.A. I have had to wear out several sets of chains working there, but never felt it was bad enough to not proceed unless the road was shut down or i had very poor visibility. I will be a judgement call on your part as to the "safely proceedibg part". If you feel unsafe,
don't go anywhere...because if you crash or slide off the road or ????, it your kester that they will burn at the stake.

If you have prior experience, its on a case by case basis. I had a driver on my truck for 10 days that used to work for may. He let his CDL expire and it would have been shorter than 10 days had we gotten a load back to Denver sooner.

Mays chain policy is simple: if the conditions call for chains, even if the chain law is not up, you should chain. If the road is open they will do all they can to get you to move. If you feel like you should stop, stop.

I was extremely nervous my first time chained up. Honestly I am glad I did though. It was a good experience. I used to be one of those guys that said "If chain law is up, I'm stopping!". Now, I don't fear it. You can't go all that fast with chains on anyways. Take it slow, take it easy. That's they key.

    nobrand Thanks this.

Sorry if this has been addressed earlier, but does MAY hire from all 48, or just near their OC's? Thanks for any input....

They have recently expanded thier hiring areas for refer side. They still only hire in the west for the dry van side. Where about are you at? I could give a better answer if I knew where you are.
