Many driver have started at a later age in recent years. Contrary to other career choices, age can actually be an asset in this business. Carriers like to see stability that age often brings. Older driver usually have a better work ethic than young drivers. As long as you can pass the physical and have a good mvr and work history, you should not have a problem finding a job.
I just started with Swift and I'm 51. In the class ahead of me there was a guy who was 55. Don't let your age hold you back. 50 is the new 20, haven't you heard?
20? No Thanx..My 50 somethin yr old body could NEVER absorb the mistakes I made at 20. 30 now might work.
try not to go for flatbed, tanker or car carrier. they involve some actual work,(climbing, lifting,ect).. I don't do them anymore.
Course on the other hand I have met all of the above older than 59;in fact some in their 70's-and they have told me it's the "work" which keeps them alive. No kidding.. Everyone, EVERYONE needs exercise. Want proof? Look around. Anywhere.
