Really? The Northeast is now the Holy Grail of ###### trucking? Only part of the Northeast I'd consider to be anything close to a trucker's nightmare is NYC and the boroughs, other than that it's a cake walk. Keep priding yourself on being strictly a Northeast driver.

Well, I don't agree with your reasoning.

I will agree that there are a lot of drivers out here that should be doing something else for a living, but I can't turn my back on them for that reason. What good does that do? Maybe by using your CB to let others know there's a problem up ahead maybe you can slow down at least one driver. Isn't it worth it?

Oh, and I'm from the Northeast, by the way. Lived there until this year. I drove an F9000 cab over all over the tri-state area (through the late 70's & 80's) so I know the NE quite well. Driving it is a piece of cake if you take your time and pay attention.

Good luck to you, driver. Stay safe out there.

Wow WSYROB - I saw your age and thought you were and old hand..haha.. I try to respect my elders but shesus - I was at Con-way 5 years before you started driving man - been at it for almost 12 if you wanna count Pa intra-state which certainly entitles me to an opinion... I run Richmond, Va from Harrisburg, Pa now and take a bit of offense.. The Southern clowns from Charlotte and Winston hold us up on a nightly basis when they show up 2 hours after what is an easy ETA to meet.. You Southern cats are something else..haha.. Back to NY/NJ for me next year..

Is Sparta down there next to Kingsport - Virgil Tibbs in the house?? Haha.. Sorry dude - I don't know much outside of the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic..

From what I noticed, Paddington here has it more or less nailed. I saw more idiotic, unprofessional, My "trailer" is bigger than yours behavior than I did anything that even closely resembled courtesy. Not that courtesy doesn't exist, it was just few and far between. It was actually SURPRISING when other drivers were courteous.

I was driving through New Mexico a few months back, came up on construction zone. Right lane closing ahead, and I throw my turn signal on (with plenty of time to get over- or so I thought). Another driver is screaming up in the left lane trying to get past as many people as he could before the road compressed down to 1 lane. Not that it would have done this idiot any good, or saved him an iota of time. He gets next to me and realizes that he's not got the room he thought, and he has put me in a precarious position. I start to back off thinkin "I'll just let this mouth breathing ###### get what he wants, I'm in no rush". Nope, he nails it down so I can get ahead. So I react to that and accelerate. There was room for me to get over, and as I'm merging I see a bunch of brake lights come on in front of me. The 4 wheelers were slowin way down (as they should have been). I needed to slow down to keep a safety buffer between me and the 4 wheelers, just in case something stupid happens. Well, just so happens Mr "Super Truck" was still right up behind me and my brake tap sent him into a fit of "YOU F'IN IDIOT WTF ARE YOU DOING YOU STUPID F YOU HAD PLENTY OF FIN ROOM".

Moron got pissed at me for a situation HE created by trying to pass at an exceptionally stupid time. I guess he hadn't seen all of the orange signs giving AMPLE warning of the lane closure, speed limit changes, etc.

As for myself, I always tried to keep a low profile, stay out of the way in my 62mph truck, be courteous etc. Follow the old "Pay it Forward" mindset.

Listen you young whipper snapper. I started driving 4 wheelers in 1973. That's a few years before you were even born if your age is correct in your profile. I will still consider myself a rookie truck driver when I decide to hang up the keys and retire or do something else. Trucking was a do something else move for me. I certainly won't be bragging about my experience 7-12 years in.

Be careful out there. You strike for me as the overconfident type that ends up dead before his time. But then I don't know you and you don't know me other than how we choose to portray ourselves on a message board.

OK First to the Aussie who said I must be NEW Well Sir I am not If you simply look on my Profile I started driving in 1987 I am a Rookie though as I am always learning. After 23 years I have sat back and let the New Age Drivers do their thing, I have watched many of the Oldtimers who my Pops ran with Retire, and Now as a "old timer" I think it is mine and everyone else's duty to help out the New Generation of drivers, and sometimes Correct the Younger one's who have been out here for less than 10 year. Regardless if they are OTR, LTL, Short Haul, straight truck, flatbed, Tanker, Bulk hauler, Gravel Box, bull hauler,, Bed Bugger, regardless of what you drive we are all truckers.
And For the Conway Driver who said he never talks to an OTR driver on the Radio Well I can tell you this my truck driving friend Conway Driver Tim Chrisman from up here in Syaracuse NY is one happy driver right now, he hollered on the Radio Air Line Blew on his second wagon, fishtailed like a SOB he kept her upright, got it to the side of the Road. I pulled in and 10 minutes later he was trucking down the road, thanks to a Airline Repair kit I kept on the truck, oh and Yes he called Dispatch and they said to go ahead and use it, and when he gets to the Yard to let the Mechanic check it out, well that was earlier this AM and He called me on my cell again to say "thanks" said the Mechanic thought the repair was done by a shop. I will always help out a Driver Regardless of who or what they drive, or how far or short they go.
You see My friend I signed on to be a truck Driver, or Politically Correct a Freight Relocation Specialist. I happen to be under a LTL load right now, unlike yourself I will deliver all my stops, where as you will haul yours to a terminal and some local will deliver it. But I do not hold that against you as you are happy with your Load, as am I.
The Next time I am headed down from PA to the Home 20 In Hampton Virginia and I see a Conway I will be waving my hand at you hoping it is you, so you will see that Not all OTR Drivers hate LTL Drivers.
You handle Freight that most would not handle, your Job works for you, and I would never fault you for that and anyone who would is just a jealous person who has not let his testicles Drop yet.

We are all one in the Same, Moving Freight So America can wake up and Have the things they want.

It is what it is right.. I was born 12/01/1980 so I am 29 years old. That's great I strike you as the type that will be dead soon but it won't be behind the wheel of a set unless it's all out of my hands. If that happens, I suppose there is nothing I can do about it right.. I don't like Southern people as a NYC native and 9 years of class A in December definitely entitles me to a strong opinion about driving. There are very few drivers my age with that type of time behind the wheel let alone 7 years pulling sets with a good LTL company..

I'm very very open about who I am. I'm a 29 year old Con-way Freight line-haul driver up North that gave up a chemistry degree at Penn State to start driving with big plans. Just figured it out early and started this job at 22.. Maybe you would but I don't consider myself a rookie driver - far from it dude. I have Ohio triples and have pulled sets across the worst roads Pa has to offer in the winter all accident free.. Being conservative I'm probably around 800,000 total miles because of my time bumping 10 docks per day as a P&D driver right.. I can handle a Con-way truck no matter what is behind it..

You sound like a ##### to me. I judge people by their character. Not what part of the country they are from. There are people I like and don't like but where they are from has less to do with it than what they are.
