I'm curios if the high beams bother you (or any one else for that matter) during the day time?

I flash the brights during the day (just a quick flash when I see driver check his mirror) and use the off/on approach at night. I do it that way simply because that's how I prefer others to do it for me. I find it easier to see the brights (a quick flash) during the day rather than the off to low beam approach due to glare and such.

Now the brights at night I definitely don't care for. I get the issue there. Just curious... I'll change my approach if need be.

ive only been driving 5 months but i dont understand the flashing your lights after someone passes you thing. i guess i can understand in busy traffic but i get flashes a lot when there are no other vehicles in view in the upper-midwest. i know when i can get back in the right lane, its not that hard to see in the mirrow, especially when their are no other vehicles in view

It's just a courtesy telling you that you're clear to move back into the travel lane. It use to be common practice, and still is among veteran drivers. Once you return to the travel lane, blink your trailer lights to say thanks.:biggrin_255:

Jamin Wait till you drive I 90 in Idaho, IN a Blinding Snow, Mirror defrosters do not always work, you either see the lights, or they call on the radio. But it is a PROFESSIONAL Courtesy Daytime, Nighttime, Traffic or NO traffic Something you will either Get it and do it, or never understand.

To the Driver who said something about flashing HIghbeams in the Day, I am cool with that one, beats nothing at all and Bothers me in the least bit.

Hell I am not even a trucker (Yet) and I have been doing the courtesy thing for years. Funny thing though. I was on a thread about dumping the air bags drop a trailer and a guy had a video showing some of the guys where and what the switch looked like and he made the comment about the courtesy light switch, that they were told not to do it or use it. I thought that was strange.

Now now driver.. I grew up in the Northeast and was genuinely excited to hit other parts of the country when I started driving OTR since I had only been in NY, Pa, NJ, Ct, Oh, RI and Mass prior to that. Keep in mind I was only 21 and was raised to formulate my opinions of other cultures based off of experience and not here-say.

Till the day I die I'll never forget my first trip down South. I was going from Pa down to Mississippi. I'm a Brooklyn native so I always wore a Yankees hat - I think I started getting comments about that everywhere I stopped starting in Tn. I definitely talked with a NY accent back then and would get the Yankee crap on the CB the entire time. I finally got down there and some woman who pretty much resembled a grizzly bear wearing a hard hat with stars and bars (should have been plain white) and it took about 3 hours to un-load what should have taken 20 minutes lecturing me about some second coming the entire time - fine lady just get the stuff off my wagon already. In probably ten trips down that way all I encountered was Yankee crap, Baptist nut jobs, and less than stellar work ethics.

I was lucky enough to land what was pretty much a dedicated run into the Bronx with tile loads on a flat/Roll-Tite. The place I ran into there was a hole in the wall just above the infamous Hunts Point market - it was on Garrison Ave if I remember right. No joke the owner was Larry the Jew and second in command was Pat the Pollack..haha.. I was un-easy about calling them what I was told to at first but after Larry gave me the key to the gate I started calling him the Jew and Pat the Pollack - I'm a third Polish so I can see the humor. They used to argue in Hebrew about everything..haha.. They would have me out of there in 10 minutes arguing in Hebrew the entire time on a load that should have taken an hour.

I told them I was leaving to work at CCX and on the last delivery I made there they gave me Yankee/Red Sox tickets that I definitely should not have taken but jumped on. My last load unfortunately delivered in Tennessee before heading back up and when I told the dude that unloaded me I'm be working for CCX in Pennsylvania during casual conversation, he pretty much said that was one less Yankee at his dock..haha..

I really don't care for Southern people based off of my experience dealing with them. I sure do hope you can at least understand where I'm coming from now before you call me names..haha.. I would think someone who is 52 would be beyond name calling but then again I'm a typical 29 year old right..haha..

    Now JB....don't be a lyin....BK is not a part of the northeast...I think it's a world into itself...:biggrin_2559:
Anyone who wears a Yankee's hat deserves everything they get. Anyone can be a fan of a team that wins by overpaying for superstar prima donnas. Try building a real team. BTW....JETER s.u.c.k.s:biggrin_25523:

Never, EVER, say no to Redsox/ Yankees tx. The only one I've been to is when Ellsbury stole home on Pettite.

I just described your attitude. I think it was accurate.

So you are basing your opinion of Southerners based on a couple of years dealing with shippers, receivers and lumpers in your early 20's as a truck driver. I bet you would have an entirely different opinion had you spent a year in college at one of our fine institutes of higher learning. There is nothing quite like a southern girl.

No offense but you are a typical 29 year old. When you hit 50 you will realize how little you know about life and wonder how you could have been so stupid back then. I am not calling you stupid. It's a relative thing called wisdom. I am also not saying I am smarter than you because I am older. What I am saying is that you will be smarter at 50 than you are now at 29.
