They tried that with their diesel cars back in the 1970s. That didn’t work out too well for The General either!lol
Now there are aftermarket kits that are available for that Displacement On Demand system, but it costs a pretty penny!
Automakers wonder why their trucks aren’t selling??..it’s obvious

Yeah the soft
disables it but to do it right you have to pull the heads and change the lifters etc
All in the name of saving a nickels worth of gas .
fortunately my 2016 is a 3/4 ton and doesn’t have that crap .Mattflat362 and mjd4277 Thank this. -
Holy crap!!
-
Nickels worth of gas and improved reliability!

Ma Mopar hasn’t had good luck with their system either.

The sad part is in 30 years the home will definitely be worth more and the pickup will be at the junkyard.

If you think those lights are anyplace close to that cost, your insane.
Every Ford I ever drove felt cheep and everyone I owned was a nightmare. -
Sounds like the $1,000 Freightliner Cascadia headlight assembly but you can get it for the great price of only $700 if you buy aftermarket. Everything now is so over complicated/engineered.
mjd4277 and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
Just going back to incandescent tail lights and halogen headlights brings vehicle prices down to an affordable level.
I've said it before, build a 400 hp 4wd truck with a 5 or 6 speed manual with air/tilt/cruise and a decent stereo system. Slap a $35k price tag on it and I bet they wouldn't be able to build them fast enough.OldeSkool, rollin coal and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
FTFY. My next truck will be computer-free. F this nonsense and the money-grubbing mentality behind it.Mattflat362 Thanks this.
