Computer manages power delivery not transmission. Transmission function is all mechanical. It is obvious you don't have the slightest idea how they work. Throwing a computer at them does not rectify you misunderstanding.

By all appearances, in you mind, its just all to "tech" for a truck driver to understand. Sorry bud, don't forget your a truck driver too.

If a magical "computer" makes it all simpler for you, then by all means we know what kind of truck driver you are. Kind of analogous to the discussion at hand. Some drivers need a "computer" to do it for them, some are happier without that crutch.

Several of us over 32 as well.
Except for CDL school that is.

While I do greatly agree that shifting IS a skill set... But one, in my opinion, is not as important as it once was to driving a truck. I mean no disrespect to anyone with said skill set, just noting the change occurring within the industry.

Now, common sense I totally agree with as being a value to any job. Simple common sense will get just about anyone far in life.

Having common sense is just as important as ever... And the lack of that will doom someone quicker than the lack of manual shifting skills.

    Stay Safe

    I
its hard for you to hear you are wrong isn't it, you always need to be the big man right? Sorry the ECU is involed, not as much as the engineers would like true, but it's there dude.

I'm really having a hard time believing you are a fan...you seem to like to argue, and well so do I so here we go ;)

And I'm the kind of truck driver who respects his craft listens to more experienced quality drivers and works his butt off to pay the bills. You might be an awesome driver, but on this topic you are plain wrong get over it.

YES... I saw a video online with a guy driving a twin stick that was in his collection of trucks... It was soooo AWESOME to watch him shift through all the gears like a warm knife through butter.

And how would you like to pretend it is?

Better look at motogp where they do the same thing without the "computer. " Just how does that happen? You say it is needed. Just how can that be?

I am, thank you. But not looking for compliments or your use of them to hide from the subject. Just a technical discussion, no need to get personal. I understand, when you brag a resume that includes "aeronautical engineer " it is hard to accept facts from a truck driver. But hey I am use to it, kind of a common theme in truck driving where everybody with a degree thinks your an idiot. There is just no possible way a truck driver could be right on any subject.
