I am very sorry for misleading anyone. I just got a call from the recruiter for DS and I asked him if it was really 17CPM, he confirmed it was indeed a team rate. He told me he assumed I was looking for a team position so he set my screen up to see that information.

He went on to tell me that PAM will now only take students if they fulfill their first 6 months on a team position.

So many more ways to set up a noob for failure. Now if the trainer is not enough to deal with now you have a partner you have to deal with for 6 months in the tin can. Now I know why so many truckers grow to hate people LOL

    123456 Thanks this.

Yeah they said I would have to drive team but there are some concessions they have to make. First they have to find a teammate that lives within 100mi of you so you can schedule time off together. Also they need to have a team truck available. I am driving solo in a single bunk truck getting the 26cpm (a bit of a joke but I've been paid less for doing a lot more when I started in cemetery and monument work).

Now the problem is they fixed my electrical problem, kinda, I have a feeling duct tape and a coat hanger was involved. But now my opti idle doesn't work. I told my dispatcher I will be running my own opti idle with a stick wedged between the seat and the accelerator until they can get me in another truck as I am not taking more downtime until my next scheduled hometime in 2 weeks. This poor truck has 537k miles now and it's falling apart around me. Sad thing is I actually like it autoshift not withstanding I'd rather be in a 10 speed. But I think it's natural to get attached to your first truck.

It would be great to get the qualcom message saying to report to north jackson to pick up a new truck....hey, a guy can dream can't he?

I'm in massillon, OH now waiting to get loaded. I'm a PAM driver. I showed up an hour and a half early but was told my odds of getting loaded early are slim to none and slim just left town. Wont be too bad though got about 750 miles to do by midnight tomorrow. If I'm loaded by 10 I'll have about 6 hours left to drive before my break then finish my 10 at about 3pm tomorrow giving me plenty of time to deliver....which brings me to something else I've learned.....

Dispatch thinks you are a miracle worker. Yesterday I got a load that has to go about 800mi in 26 hours. 800 mi at 50mph is about 16 hours, plus a 10 hour break is.......26 hours. Add in a fuel stop (15 mins if it's not busy), 30 mins for a live load, and no breaks while driving and I'm already late. 50 miles of the route is PA back roads so figure 45mph max there. Then about 200 mi on I76 pa turnpike which we all know is not very speedy. Then it takes the shipper 3 hours to load me. Add in a 30 min stop at the nearest truck stop with a scale (load was 43k lbs) which is packed and I'm really late. I don't have a pocket driver to take the wheel while I rest. Then my dash about catches on fire and night dispatch (bunch of words the profanity filter will not let me type) acts like it's my fault a load that with their plan could never be delivered by a solo driver being late is my fault. God forbid wal-mart doesn't get their shipment of hawaiian punch.

    /rant off

My truck just hit 930K miles and aside from a few issues its a good truck. I drove trucks at Stevens with half the miles and half the years that were in worse shape. I think it all boils down to how good the maintenance is. Our mechanic really knows his stuff.

I am just outside Sidney, but am very familiar with Clyde & Marion both. Marion cause dated some hot Italian girl there just before college and Clyde because it is on my way to the lake and I fish constantly. My brother actually worked at the Whirlpool in Clyde and I still have an account at the credit union there. :)

I am looking for more Southern routes in the near future as we are planning to move towards Mobile soon. Wife is unwilling to deal with another Ohio winter. Nothing against old orange, just trying to focus on getting South and FFE looked like a good way to do that.

Joshua- you're gonna make good decisions, not many people come in aware and informed. Go get 'em.
