    Okay, so here is what I have learned over the last couple of days... If you push the foot feed down and get the rpm's off of idle, the truck will idle for hours, and charge the battery. I have got two different stories about how cold it has to be to idel, on tells me 15 and one says 30 degrees, but it was high 30's here last night, and I was able to idle for an hour to charge things up, and made it through the night just fine. So good luck to you all out there in battery land.

    I think that this only works on the Cascadia's, sorry :biggrin_25513:! I do know from talking to people in the shop up here they are working on the problem and trying to figure out work arounds so that guys will continue to have heat. Keep in touch with the maint. dept, and your FM and they should be able to get you fixed up.

    Thanks pa will do, yesterday the heat for the trk cab quit and would only blow cold air.
    So according to maint there supposed to get this thing back to the dealer. After hometime the
    Hvac batterys where completely dead, hope they can get it fixed. This thing is more of a POS
    Than the freightliner it replaced !!! :biggrin_25510:

    Drivers should be able to sleep all night without having to get up and try to keep his/her truck running to charge the batteries. Hope they can find a fix so our drivers can be well rested.

    They should make them idle until they figure out the issue. Not very cool to have the driver suffer while they "figure it out"!

    If I had some of the problems that y'all are having with the other prostarts and cascadias I would definitely log all that as on duty, and if there was a problem with the FM then I would tell them to talk to safety about me not sleeping...PA I do apologize for missing out on what the previous post's were when I left mine. You have to look at this as your business too. Either a O/O or company driver, don't take crap from anyone....I like Roehl but I've already told my FM treat me good and take care of me we will not have a problem...treat me like crap and I will clean my truck out and go home that simple. I am a squad leader in the Infantry, and I've lived in far worse conditions, but when your driving down the road weighing as much as we do it is very dangerous for use not to be comfortable when sleeping. "Safety is a corner stone value" we I would pull that card a lot! Do not let someone behind a desk tell you how to do your job. That happens once with me in Iraq, that LT. Had a broken nose and a busted tooth.....

    L train you're on the money. When my AC went out I got stuck in the truck over night in 90 degrees. Let them know for safety I would only drive till I couldn't and my load ended up a day late. They took care of it and then I lived hotel to hotel for 2 weeks. Which was annoying but comfy! Heck they even paid for a 110 dollar room in Atlanta. I was nice about it and let them know I just couldn't sleep enough in the heat. Now when the temp was better I stayed in the truck, but once it was hot it was hotel time.
    Hope they iron out the issues soon for you guys!

    I think the battery powered HVAC is a great idea, less weight, less moving parts, and no additional emissions. I just think we need better battery technology before all this stuff will really work. I understand how much cost was involved with the Tripac APU's. The repair costs alone were huge, plus the added cost of PM's and the fuel that they burned. I guess they just need to keep working on the problem, but we need something that works for now...
