I recruited a female friend to Prime. She is a single mom of 3. With her recruiter everything was set for her to go out with a male trainer. Prime bused her to SpringMO. She was there, met her trainer, who had already OK'D her getting on his truck, was set to leave and was told she could not go with him. They had talked for about 2 months had become friends and then she does not get to go out as a PSD with him. The simple solution to the issue is like some other companies have and that is waiver each sign a waiver including spouses if needed. Sign the waiver and liability is off Prime. They both even mentioned this but no luck. So she was bused back to her house and is still looking for employment. I understand protecting the company but a LEGAL waiver of some kind is a simple solution. I think my friend plans on joining this class action so I will no post anymore. Just a bad situation for all period no matter what view you have about it.

I disagree. When Prime had a trainer that was charged with sexual harassment they settled out of court because there was proof of the charge. Their answer to the problem 7 years of a policy that allows them to hire very few female applicants. Instead of addressing that particular problem with better training on both sides they got around equal opportunity employment by in effect not hiring female applicants or very few.

Working closely together is one thing. It's the sleeping in the same cramped space that would be the problem. No separate facilities or even rooms to be in would cause some humans problems. And I'm not sure it's all about the trucking companies--there are many men and women who can't behave properly in mixed company. A company owns the liability when a man or woman says or does the wrong thing, which is much more likely to happen when the two are "living together" for 4 weeks or more.

Even at my advanced age, I'm not sure I would be comfortable in that situation and I have no intention of having a long- or short-term relationship with any woman ever again--30 years of marriage to one was enough for me.

Unfortunately - or fortunately, depending on your perspective - one cannot "sign away" that responsibility or liability. If they could, unethical companies would be requiring such a signature from everybody.

Hmmmm Do you happen to know how many women on the "list" actually got hired? And about the double curtain LOLOL. It is there for privacy from the people outside of the truck. Almost all trucks have them. EEOC is addressing an issue that had been addressed in the 50's and 60's. Equal Opportunity Employment
