Dude unless you are running heavy haul, mountains are no harder on a drive line than flat ground. Its designed for it. Besides that, the closest thing Tennessee has to a mountain is monteagle and that barely qualifies as a big hill let alone a mountain. There is a couple good pulls on 26 but i think they are on the north Carolina side.
Stay outa west virginia and pittsburgh also. The hills might not be high above sea level but man they go straight up and you better not miss a gear.
i am kinda curious why you say that, i do a lot of work around or threw the minot area, but i don't know that i would pick that as the best place for a general freight hauling base of operations.
That's a crazy notion about mountains in TN. It's probably one of the most strategically located crossroads on major lanes of any state in the union. It's not for nothing Memphis is called the distribution center of America. But why am I trying to convince competition anyway. Yeah go somewhere else lol.
Allentown-poconos area is becoming popular, cheap housing and decent paying loads but still the northeast
I second Nashville,TN and don't have to live right in the city either. Several good locations in communities within 30 minute drive to Nashville. Cardinal/Greatwide has a terminal in Goodlettsville which is part of Metro Nashville, but is on the Northern edge of the Metro. Those 0/0's can be home weekends or even every day if they want. A few container/drayage companies in the area for 0/0's and they have some decent turns such as Memphis, Charleston,SC and Jacksonville,FL plus other turns.
And also @TallJoe Crossville is also a good area. Lot of people from the Northern states move there because it's a beautiful area and friendly to retirees and others that relocate there from other areas of the country. Renegade Mountain is beautiful and Crossville is the county seat for that area. Many truckers live in Crossville area because jobs are plentiful. Renegade Mountain makes me think of "roughing it smoothly."
You must be nuts to suggest Pennsylvania as a state that would be friendly to small businesses, We have some of the highest taxes in the country...
