Don't blame the export radios for all the problems. Tweaknicians that don't know now to align/tune them and operators that don't know how to use them, or misuse them, are 99.9% of the problem. All mine (3) have been done correctly and all have the "Schottky diode" mod done to them as well. I always get compliments! No over modulation, just a tiny bit of echo/reverb, and no "hot mods" to overdrive it. Very clean! I like them!

I got a friend close by who is one of the old timers. He has been at it over 40 years. He gets work mailed to him from all over, including other CB shops around the country. If it can be fixed, he can fix it, and it will be done right. Several on here have used him, all with positive results. PM me for info if you're interested.

You're thinking of the 98 VHP. The 94 HP does around around 120 tuned up.

ok so there are a lot of clones and cheap radios flooding in from China right now. I have my eye on a spyder or ranger .. . but want to make sure I don't get a clone generic rip off...

Who can recommend a tech that can spot these, knows about transistor clones , finals etc? Who can recommend a old school and trust worthy tech to get a radio from or to bring to ?

Spyder? Were you thinking of Stryker?

Anyway, google Fine Tune CB Shop. This guy is probably the best there is.
