Big rig hits interstate bridge in Cumberland

An 18-wheeler transporting automobiles ran into a bridge on Interstate 95 on Sunday, sending debris into a fire truck, a Mercedes-Benz and a small sport-utility vehicle driven by a pregnant woman from Raeford, the State Highway Patrol said.
No one was seriously injured in the accident, which happened about 1 p.m. and closed both northbound lanes for about 30 minutes, said Trooper Jeff R. Bair. One lane remained closed for about an hour and a half, Bair said.
Bair said the driver of the 18-wheeler, Sow Moussa Ntivumbura, of Texas, had picked up a car in Fayetteville and was heading to Greensboro when he ran into the bridge near mile-marker 58.
Bair said Ntivumbura did not properly lower the car when he picked it up, and said that car was what struck the bridge.
