Ok, some real information on Macropoint and how it is used.

First, the version that is being talked about is the Lite version. It is paid for on a per load per 24 hour period. If they are dumb enough to enter the load for extended period of time the will be paying $6/ day.

Second, yes it is using GPS and you need a smart phone. If you don't have that then no tracking.

Third, you have to agree to allow tracking. Because the broker submits it to Macropoint it won't start till you agree to it.

Finally, some of you need to check for exhaust leaks.

I don't have an exhaust leak, I checked:biggrin_255: I'm not sure if BNSF tracked me or not. My gps on my phone is shut off all the time and I still had to make check calls every morning. I got the load delivered and they were happy, so alls well.

First, turn your gps on. You are missing out of functionality of smart phone. And e911 really isn't working if you have that off. Would suck to die because an ambulance couldn't figure out where you are.

And no they where not tracking you. You will know when you agree to be tracked. And the app that installs can override your GPS settings just for use with the app.

Theft really have a great app. Brokers that can do this are being able to get better freight. Still a lot of freight that requires 24/7 tracking and they are willing to pay for it.

But that really hasn't been a service available in the spot market.

We are looking at Macropoint for in cab solution. It is a modified HTC cell phone that doesn't need to be installed. Very impressive and can upgrade to EOBR with just plugging module into buss. Non-installed units are the future.

I was gonna say...unless you INSTALLED something they're not tracking you. They can't send you a simple SMS/text message and track you from that with no interaction on your part.

On that note, you DO have a separate smartphone for business purposes, right? :)

Those reflectors on the side of the road have cameras that take pictures of your truck. I have the feed directly to my laptop.

    YOU! Put your pants on.

And YOU! Better toss that commercial companion you "Only gave a ride to"...

AND YOU! ReallY? Dropping a duce between your axles this morning? Really?
