The guy in the middle just got the "call me back in half an hour" speech for the sixth time in a row.

 

Lord knows I am quite well versed in how that feels. Can you imagine going back to means that drastic just to get a load??

 

It was in a rest area in Nebraska. And yep it worked. Man oh man, I remember using those to call for my next load and listening to hold music forever!

 

Update on the loves fuel card doodad.

I think that chick was full of beans. Never happened before, hasn't happened since and I've been trying to make it happen.

 

Sounds like you just wanna be a trouble maker and make the people at the service counter actually do their job. Lol

I remember before cell phones,
Pulling over on the shoulder of the interstate,
Turn on the 4-ways, and cutting through the woods
To the gas station to find a pay phone, to get the
Load information.

What really sucked was when someone had ripped
The cord from the phone or you ran out of quarters from
Sitting on hold. Lol.
We got it so much easier now.

 

I dunno...do we?

Back then, it was expected that we needed time to read a map, call for directions, and get ahold of dispatch when we could get to a pay phone. These days, everyone wants it done NOWNOWNOW, and if you're even a millisecond beyond what they consider 'acceptable,' you'll have your arse chewed like a piece of gum.

The good old days weren't necessarily bad.
