The heat from weld helps get it out.

The vibration only helps to keep them from breaking once they are broke its doo doo. I have had good luck drilling a small hole thru stud, small bits are easy to start and cut quickly as well. Then its weld a flat washer to stud and nut to washer and I agree 7018 in a stick machine works better for me. In my mind the small hole lets it draw from heat. Being an old yellow iron mechanic and welding a good wide bead all the way around the center of bushings to get them out is where the thought comes from. I know broken bolts sometimes have no this method will work everytime lol.

Here is a new one for you all. Upon heading into no mans land to do a broken manifold stud on an acert, I found the pre cooler mounting bracket was broken at the top. You will see the word CHINA clearly stamped on it. The pre cooler was not flopping around at all and would not have known about this without pulling it down.

I've replaced well over a dozen of those (not on the same rig, but amoungst a fleet of cats), super common to break.

I have found if you don't torque the new studs and the new nuts it will not last. I replace every stud and every nut turbos to. I also replace both coolant hoses on precooler.
