Not running as well after removing the BD unit? Sounds like an invisible "Gotcha Clause" in BD's warranty.

I don't believe it's like that at all. He has an MBN Cat that apparently had been flashed at some point with an older pre-emissions 6NZ. He didn't know for sure and that was where the problems began. Not BD's fault. And since he did have an old 6NZ tune in there and it now has the stock MBN file.. ..there is nothing unusual or conspiratorial at all about the piss poor fuel economy that resulted, MBN's are famous for that. Again, not entirely BD's fault... ...but at the very least to make him happy they could/should put a 6NZ tune back in there..

Just to clarify, BD gave me a custom 6NZ tune as I requested. My mileage did not improve much for the 2 weeks I tested it. I then called them and they gave me my stock MBN file back (CAT factory settings going by my ECM serial number) and that's what is in the ECM now. I sent the unit back last week and during my run this week, my MPG is down to 5.5, my boost pressure stays around 10psi and my EGT's are back up to the 1100-1200 range.

Bully Dog has done nothing wrong, and was going to issue me a full refund but instead I have chosen to work with them and get a tune specifically made for my application. Their lead programmer has taken all my info and is going to make a custom 6NZ file for my truck with adjusted parameters and FLS/FTS changes. After running it for 4 weeks I will post my results and start a new thread with them and ask this one be removed.

Again, BD has stood behind their product and hopefully it works out for me.

I was leaning that way as well but I can't justify a $1800 purchase where I can't remove it or use it elsewhere if I get rid of the truck. I like the BD because i do not have to drive to a dealer and have it done, I can do it myself. There are no PDI dealers anywhere along my route and I don't get the downtime to remove the ECM and ship it.

But if u ever do use them, please let us know the results.

So do you mean that they're going to try to make you a file specifically for running really light loads? You still planning on changing turbos at some point?

See it turned out ok. I've never heard anything bad about BD. I figured it would. I know it had to suck when you first uploaded it though.. If I do a PDI tune you'll know it, I love big power, wish I had some extra money laying around lol..

Yes, he is tweaking the performance tune for my lighter loads by adjusting the FLS/FTS settings. With the performance setting, it runs economy settings until the engine gets to a certain load % then it kicks in the power. I also plan on getting a BW turbo from Mr. Haney and a PDI manifold in a few months.

I have talked to Mr Haney and would like to really get one of his tunes put in my ecm. The only thing that worries me about that is if my truck is in the shop sometime and they re-flash my ecm even after i tell them its not what the truck is in here for so don't touch it. If you have to buy the tune again then your better off to buy the BD. But from what I hear Mr Haney's tunes are better.

That is why I,m looking at the Pittsburgh Power box. I wish Mr Haney had a way to send you the program in a hand held tuner like you can buy for a 4 wheeler. Then once I buy it , it would be mine. I could put it into the same vehicle as many times as I want or need.
