I was thinking of swift.. We have a few months to get everthing together but I see they don't sponsor CDLS anymore. But they do reimburse you

Will do ! I know that teams are wanted more but didn't know they preferred husband and wife. What would you say is a good starting pay per mile?

How was is while you were with England? Did you run solo? And how were they as far as miles, and their dispatchers. I hear a lot about people waiting days for loads

The classic turd sandwich vs giant douche debate. Which one of the mega's is better? Their may be a correct answer, but you really shouldn't care.

I wouldn't spend dime one or a second of my time training with either. Their truck driving training is a first class rip off and they know it.

Their is a lot of lip service from these mega's how they demand teams. If teams are so needed why do most teams at the megas, drive less miles then two solo drivers? Teaming just makes planning easier for the office staff. That is why England more or less forces teaming and the other mega trucking companies run training programs.

A husband and wife team can make out good in this industry, but don't expect it to be at one of the mega training companies.

My opinion is not what matters as I am not a team driver. I am an owner operator. There are husband and wife teams on here who can give you a better answer but I would say 50 cpm split. Hopefully, a team will be along.

Neither. Don't focus on "paid for CDL training" because in the small print somewhere there's a contract hiding in there. As a team, last thing you want is better companies not touching you with a hundred foot pole since you've a contract with a company.

Instead, look at getting your license from either a company that trains and reimburses or a school. School can be a bit more difficult since you need the money upfront, but many companies will pay that back.

Here's my personal example. I went to swift for my CDL since they didn't require a contract to get it. After I got my CDL through their school, I went straight to Schneider who reimburse tuition. So, I got my CDL for $0.00 and I've no contract with anyone.

To be really fair, if I could do it again, I would have gone to Jim Palmer. But when you're running a team, what do you need an apu for?

I was solo on a Walmart dedicated. Hard to say on miles. Different delivery routes were different miles. I was in a sleeper, but returned to the DC each day after deliveries were done. Stop pay paid, and detention after one hour. Weekly checks average roughly 750. Not bad for a brand new driver.

There was no waiting on a load. Ever.

OTR did not have it that good.

I know this probably sounds dumb but you went to swift. Paid them but Schneider reimbursed you for the swift school? Or you got it through swift & went to Schneider and paid for it through Schneiders reimbursement

@Lg94 Don't go with CR England no matter what you do. The opinion on them is decidedly negative because of their business practices, and there are much better options out there that you can try.

Apply with Prime, Roehl, Knight, and Swift - in that order. Prime and Roehl seem to be quite decent from the research I've done. Knight and Swift are megacarriers and are more iffy (also Knight only qualifies people from the southwestern US, Oklahoma and Texas for their school and makes you pay for lodging), but if you're out of better options and need to go with a megacarrier you could do a lot worse than one of those two.

You'll hear a lot of warnings and jokes about Swift, in large part because they're one of the biggest employers in the business and they end up hiring a lot of morons, who tend to drive/park like jerks or get into silly accidents, both of which sometimes end up on Youtube (and add to the reputation).
But my take is that with a starter company you're going to have a tough time in general (regardless of who you go with), and they aren't really that much different from any of the other guys. The best guide on this forum to Swift I've been able to find is here.
