Long story short I went to C.R. England a few weeks ago and got sent home 1 day short of the CDL Test. I am in a family of truckers and have spent summers on the road with my grandfather(who I donated liver to btw). I love trucking and this is what I want to do for the rest of my life I know 100%. He's let me drive on a few runs this past week or two with a tanker. The only thing I haven't done is the 90 degree dock, but I completely understand how to move the trailer where I want it. I was looking into going back to another company like Trainco here in Taylor, MI. I live in Woodhaven, MI. But I feel it would be a huge waste of money. I am scared to death to just GO TAKE the CDL skills test. Can anyone explain to me how the process goes? For example the pretrip, air brake, backing maneuvers, road test. I appreciate it very much, I have read and searched but haven't really found my answer. Thanks again. :)

You are conflicted if you feel a CDL school would be a huge waste of money, but you're also scared to death to take the skills test. Take a quality school option, make the best of it, and let that be your stepping stone. If you cant get past the CDL school, you certainly can't get past the apprenticeship to solo stage in the real world.

Here's a video. You'll probably get many replies on how to do a PT so it won't hurt to see and hear what this instructor is saying too. Don't memorize it, pay attention to why she says what she says about each item of her sample pre-trip. She's teaching, she's telling you how to observe an item before you move to the next item. She's a CDL class instructor to get people thru the test.

I am scared to waste money is all, not scared I will fail. I am not scared of the truck, more so of wasting $250 or so if I happen to miss something that's different from Indiana to Michigan. I was completely done with CR's training besides taking the CDL Skills Test. I need to know if everything is the same basically from Indiana to Michigan. I just would like an explanation of if they ask you about the pre inspection or if you just go and do it describing everything as PMS and not bent, broken, cracked or leaking essentially? I know a lot about these trucks and have driven on the road more than a few times. I already went to CDL school and got sent home because my prior work couldn't verify I worked there.....I was hired through a temp agency. Anyways, if anyone can just give me quick run through of how the Michigan skills test goes, that's all I am asking. I got great scores on evaluations and was supposed to take my test 3 days early until they sent me home the day before my test. :/

All true. CR England is by no means a company to aspire to anyway.

Why did they send you home? You stop breathing???

Consider it a lucky turn of events.

That company treated us like garbage not caring whatsoever about us and forgetting us on multiple occasions at the hotel.
