I read the spat you ladies were having about making money and what is possible. Funny. I got a story for you; a good trucking story. IDK if there's any car haulers in here, BUT, in 2011, I believe it was Allied that lost their contract with Chrysler when the union took em under. Anyway, Chrysler hired an outfit named Carmoza out of Wisconsin to run their shuttle operation from different places around metro Detroit to the north Toledo rail yard called Ottawa South. Cars paid $105 suvs $115 and the mound rd truck plant paid 125 a unit for trucks. 24 hour picks and 24 hour drops. No real dispatch, just grab and go. Now there were big trucks in there pulling 9 car loads and seven car loads and they made mega bucks! I pulled 3 at a time. 1 round trip took 140 minutes or 2 hour and 20 minutes to move 120 miles total, load and drop with a back haul from the rail at times. At 3 units, I averaged $345 a load or $690 on days where I had a back haul which was 3 days out of 6. I did 8 runs a day (#### THAT LOG), cleared about $2000, a day on a bad lazy day when I closed down Hooters and burnt 400 in fuel . You do the math for a full week. Point being this. When someone says they are making good dough rollin coal you better ask instead of pissin em off. You might lose out because of your attitude. Old or young. #### I miss that money. The best 5 week stretch in my working life.

And I drove a pick-up truck and a 3 car trailer! HAHAHA Lmfao all the way to the bank!

The big strappers on this board who claim to be the kings of trucking would have their pantys in a wad if they knew what us lowly door slamming hazmat reefer haulers make. Especially those of us with more than one piddly truck and trailer.....:biggrin_255:

Its called networking, man. Just tailoring this coat for whoever it fits. Most people who are where they are got there with someone's help or direction. I had a chance to make some decent money because someone turned me onto it. Instead of having a keyboard-a-cuff, why not work together. Maybe when guys come off that lone gunman approach, we could raise the rates in all sectors of trucking. Only a fool picks and chooses their lessons and wont change. You change from cradle to grave; you age... I hope I'm not sharing with the dogs and swine... and cowins...
