Contact some cdl schools and ask what they need for you to enroll. Carolina Logistics has their own cdl school in North Carolina and cuts slack for students with problem driving records or criminal records.
The DMV area and Virginia in general is pretty brutal. My county (Prince William) actually has the nicest cops in my opinion, but I got my tickets in other areas unfortunately. In Fairfax county they are relentless and unforgiving, if your headlight burns out while you're driving you can forget about a warning, better have the time and patience to show up in court with the receipt proving it was fixed! I am not anti cop by any means but they make themselves hard to love sometimes.
Absolutely, by the way that round the bend speed limit change was from personal experience. A cop was just standing on the side of the road with a radar gun just pointing at cars to pull over, he had about 6-10 of us lined up for tickets. That was the worst trap I've ever seen! Radar detectors are of course illegal here as well. I need to get out, but it looks like my chances are hurt by my record.
