I have locked horns on here before with other drivers. There are so many that show 34 in the sleeper and tell newbies that is how they do a re-start. I have explained to the newbies if you do this and something happens (a wreck where a 4 wheeler caused the accident) The first thing a lawyer is going to do is prove you can not believe what this driver says during the trial because he falsifies his log book under oath. They will hang you when you try to explain that you was in the sleeper 34 hours. If they can't trust you then they surely can't trust what you say happened in the wreck.
I break up my times. Lines 1 and 2 when I am shut down for the night or doing a re-start. It is all about protecting the driver. If you do not look out for you who else will? In case no one has noticed there is big money taking drivers and companies to court. The ones that make out like a bandit are the lawyers and families. Especially when the driver makes it so easy for them to win the settlement...![]()
Can I be on Line 1 in the truck?

Ya know a 379 with a 63" unibilt is not prime real estate.... -
That's what I'm saying the guy said. What's your opinion? Personally I think it's stupid. But I wasn't going to say it to the guy who had to pass me on the logging class. LOL

A point to ponder......
You have a "Condo Cab"...... say one of those 120" jobs....you know the ones with the fireplace and the spa too.....
Now how do you log it?
Some of them have the fold-down beds...others have the bed in rear......
The whole "cab" cannot possibly be considered a "sleeper".....
If you're seated at the table typing away...you are not on line 2....... -
Bobtailing is considered off duty not driving ONLY if it is for personal use!
If you drop a trailer at some "I hauled this cheap crap just for you because CR England is written on my truck" then bobtail 200 miles to another "I'm coming to pickup your cheap freight because I'm slightly better then JB Hunt" place.... Then your little ink pen better have you on line 3! -

In logging class we were told off duty means "you can leave and go fishing". Thus.....if you can get out and leave the truck you can log on line 1. However......what if I'm sitting there playing Blackjack on my handy dandy laptop that's sitting on top of the steering wheel. I could get out and go fishing I suppose but since I'm sitting in the middle of downtown L.A. I don't think I will. Mr DOT pulls up and yells RAID! Will he see it as off duty? I just don't know. I sit in the sleeper. *sighs* I'm such a wimp.

*squints and ponders* Did you do something I'm not aware of and I should be mad at you for? -
I can't answer that question... I can barely afford my 63" sleeper let alone one of those super duper fancy sleepers! If freight keeps going the way it is.... Pretty soon they'll take my sleeper away & then I'd be stuck with just the cab. -
