Hot Rod did a build where they put one in a 240Z. They called it 240Z28

That works but i prefer jacks. Lots of hydraulic jacks and blocks of wood. Comes out much better looking.

I myself am not going to take a hammer to the firewall of what is a pretty original truck except for the engine.

What good is "original" if it doesn't work the way you need it to work? If you aren't doing a full-bore restoration with the intent on selling it at a Barrett-Jackson auction, "original" just doesn't mean much. If you want to stuff a bigger engine into a small engine compartment, you have to increase the size of the engine compartment...cut away inner fenders, relocate the firewall, etc...or if you just need a little space, some mild convincing with a ball peen hammer can do the trick.

...and as for being "original", if it isn't 100% it isn't "original". If you're swapping in a non-original engine, you may as well do what you need to do to make it work for you because it is no longer "original".

To get the extra room on the firewall, all KW did was punch a hole in the middle and rivet a shallow fibreglass doghouse to it.

No the firewall is steel and part of the cab structure. All KW did was put a hole in the centre of the firewall and rivet a fibreglass doghouse to it to make room for the 3406.

Sounds like a simple solution. But I'd use sheet metal. I can form sheet metal to the perfect fit. Fiberglass? Not so much. Just isn't in my skill set.
