Some people aren't good at falling asleep even when we're tired. And even worse at staying asleep.

YES, you can! No further commentary is required.

For the record, you can put any substance in your body that its metabolites are not part of the DOT testing drug panels. This also means you can take drugs in the benzodiazepine class because they are not part of the DOT testing. Does this mean it is wise to do? This is a decision each and every individual has to determine for themselves. The thing is though be ready to be accountable if your decision blows up in your face! This means don't be telling people I got into trouble because Moose1958 over on TTR said it was legal!

This warning doesn't really apply to melatonin gummies, but with other over-the-counter "medication". Just because it is sold, doesn't mean it's what you think it is or that it is legal. Over-the-counter pills/potions/etc have a specific exemption in govt law that regulates other medication. Under that exemption the maker can sell sawdust capsules as "Tibetan Bear Liver", or anything else, and then speak around the possible benefits of that "bear liver"/sawdust and so you think it grows hair, gives more stamina in the bedroom, lowers your blood pressure, increases cardio fitness, increases your miles per gallon while driving. The 2 requirements for any OTC product are 1) you cannot make a specific claim to treat or cure a disease or condition directly, and 2) your product cannot kill or physically injure a consumer. They get around #1 by saying "it supports your body's natural ability to X". NO. IT. DOES. NOT.

There is no policeman testing the products before they are sold to consumers. With the ease with which products are shipped from overseas nations with no interest in the health of foreign consumers, lots of shady and dangerous products arrive for sale in the US. Foreign countries have shipped baby formula with essentially anti-freeze in it to boost the fat or protein rating, when tested by machines. By the time authorities around the world noticed there were thousands of dead and injured infants.

Most importantly, just because some synthetic or all-natural "supplement" or drug replacement for marijuana or something else is sold over the counter at a smoke shop or gas station doesn't mean you won't fail a DOT drug test after you use it. When you fail that test, the clerk at the smoke shop or gas station isn't going to pay your bills or your attorney to help get that failed drug test off your record. Not imagining this is possible does not prevent it from happening to you. There were plenty of Kratom, CBD, Delta 9 something, etc users posting in this forum about the failed drug test problem. You can imagine what you are buying is pure and legal, but without a chemical analysis you only know what words might be written on the side of the container, what you have heard from other people, and what you hope is true. Hope is not a plan. When you fail a drug test, good luck trying to sue some PO Box in a foreign country or some former addict at a smoke shop. It's your job to protect your license. When you trust the words of people you don't know you put them in charge of your license. Be careful.

If I can suggest an alternative, I find that the various sounds (white noise, electric fan, railroad track, rain, surf, etc) in my white noise generator app put me under pretty quickly. I turn it up loud enough to mask truckstop sounds, and it tends to drown out the noise inside my head as effectively.
