Hi Soonerdoggy,
I am in the same boat. I am 50 and tired of working for other people. Worked in a completely different field and looking at transportation. Love to drive and decided to do some research also. Right now trying to compare Hotshot loads or getting a Class A and doing a big rig. I'm in Atlanta and it looks like a good place to be for work. The big question is can I get loads right out of Trucking School if I start my own business. I have the funds to purchase truck and equipment outright.
Can New Owner Operators get loads?

Soonerdoggy, i have an XL double drop flat extendable trlr. Am like you, 2nd time @being O/O, first time, bank took $4K out of my acct, not due on the loan! It put me out of business. That was my 2014 plate&insurance. Bank then called the 20 yr note, after 21/2 yrs. Had to sell the farm to pay. But! Now everything paid for, & like you, starting again. If you know construction equipment, etc, maybe you'd like to get OTR experience. Trade for flatbed experience. Work together. I've been company driver over 6yrs, O/O 1yr. Done 42 of 48, one Canada, 6 different trlrs. Tank endorsement, TWIC, & Hazmat, perfect CSA, and tired of being cheated. I'm 71 & a grandma.
