Just get a laptop mate. There are many affordable options on the market currently. A desktop is a pretty high power draw unit. Also you must remimber you not only have the desktop which can pull a ton of power but the monitor as well. Then there is the dirt and vibraton and oils of a big rig. These cna and will damage a desktop over time as those motherboards arent really designed to have a 2 pound block of GPU hanging off them with a lot of bumps, shocks and vibration.

Next heat will be a MAJOR issue. Desktops put out a STUPID amount of heat for something esentially the size of a walk in closet. And they arent that efficent in doing it. So your likely to heat up your inverter as well furthering the problems as well as the issues a non pure sinewave inverter can cause a desktop. Not to mention the weight. My desktop is a good solid 40 or 50 pounds. Which doesnt seem like much but if god forbid you get into a wreck that thing is going to be a missle and if your in a company truck lugging that #### thing around is going to get old fast as you play musical trucks. Not to mention all the wires to rub on things amd potentially short out.

A laptop on the otherhand especially a modern one can be had as low as 1k that will do everything a simular desktop will do in a far smaller power envalope with less draw, less heat, far more durable parts and the ability to quickly change to a new truck with minimal hastle and setup.

I dont think you should have any issues. I ran an electric space heater off my inverter for a week when my thermostat went out while I was driving. You will need to idle if you plan on gaming, otherwise you will drain the batteries. Batteries are usually 100 amps and you most likely have 4. 400 amp x 12v = 4800 watts. I think a good rule of thumb is to not drain the batteries less than 80% full to make sure they last a while. 80% is around 1000 watts so if you draw 500 watts for two hours you will hit that threshold.

I recommend a laptop anyways. Ive had a computer monitor on my TV mount that I used as a TV and the vibration destroyed it after a few months. Laptop has held up great for over 3 years. It sits on my bed closed when driving. It runs all night on the truck battery when watching video. I do idle even with the laptop if I do play the rare game.

Thank you for the feedback, folks. I'm currently looking at gaming laptops that will come as close as possible to my desktop, performance-wise, so we'll see how it goes.
