The only part of this statement that sounds stupid is the perpetuation of the "accidental death" myth. Responsible, CCW-carrying gun owners do not whip them out to show them off to their buddies.

Regarding why carry at all. For me, I don't need the "self-defense" excuse when I do choose to carry. I carry simply because I want to and because it's my right. I don't need to have a reason. Dredging up a "self-defense" excuse only indicates an individual will be looking for a threat rather than avoiding one.

To answer the question why alcohol and radar detectors are banned, but firearms are not: the US Guv'mint is barred from making such blanket rules and laws by the Second Amendment to the Constitution. This silence on the subject is proper application of that Amendment.

I wasn't speaking about you ,I was quoting the local sheriff on the always open debate about shooting someone on your property.

Actually, there is a technique called "Center Axis Relock" where you hold your weapon sideways, but it is done with two hands instead of one. Law Enforcement Officers are often trained this technique for close quarter combat as well as getting several rounds down range. Contrary to how the gangbangers like to brandish theirs.

Good post. It's somewhat comical that many of the same people who would like to take away your right under the Second would be appalled at any thought of taking away their right to pray or worship as they see fit while in their truck. I feel certain they would discover the Bill of Rights in that case.

In other words, only a LEO in an aircraft is allowed to haul loaded firearms as cargo.

Or, "transport" means anything being conveyed along a roadway.

Can you carry a firearm when hauling hazardous materials such as crude oil in a cmv in Texas even with a permit?

I don't think there's any distinction with regard to what your freight is as to whether you may pack or not.

Belly dump yes. As long as you are compliant with all other restrictions on CCW in Texas.

For info call Texas Dept. Public Safety
    Concealed Handgun Section
    PO Box 4143
    Austin, Tx
    512-424-7293

Texas law permits business' to ban concealed weapons By placing a sign on all entrance's to a business.

So watch for signs on the door or gate you enter through.
