Can you get your CDL in a state you don't have residence in?

Not mine I got a ######## instructor. I already got my required hours in so that's it.

Like I said I should be okay just wondering in case I have trouble with shifting.

 

Try colleges in your area to rent a trk but it won't be cheap.

 

I'm already finishing a school but I'm concerned with it a manual is all

 

Did'nt read the entire thread but did your school train you on manual or automatic? and if manual how did you do?I mentioned college not to attend but to borrow their semi for the test.They may have automatic.

 

I did alright but am a little worried about it. And no they don't. So that's what I'm saying if I can't pass with the manual wondering how I would rent an auto to test since I never plan on touching a manual again anyway

 

Call and drive around and look for any companies that have trks,see if they'll rent you their semi.

DC the best thing you can possibly do. Is to stick to a manual transmission. Right now, there aren't a lot of companies that have auto's as standard equipment.
You're going to HAVE to know how to drive a manual truck. There just are not that many auto's out there for every one to have one, just for you to drive.
You are also limiting yourself by sticking to auto's. What happens if you jump ship and the next company says yeah we have auto's, but you're gonna have to start with a manual.

 

I go to companies with all automatics. There's plenty and more and more are switching over. If they ever don't have anywhere I can get an auto, ill reinvest my earnings into something else.

 

Its not a bad thing to know. And it could make a difference in your ability to get a job. Even those all auto companies may want to know that you can adequately drive a manual.
