    hello ExOTR,

I will check out that app, and definitely get that book.

    hello BUMBACLADWAR,

do you know whether the 'points of interest' trick works on a garmin nuvi? I have one of them in the truck for emergency purposes.

    thanks for the replies

^^^ The trucker path app takes very little space; I have an old phone as well. And yes, the POI will work on a Nuvi; I've got one in my POV and sure enough.... it's functional. I'm not the most techie guy on the block at my age, LoL... but those are the 2 best suggestions.. esp Trucker Path.

Best of luck to ya man, and welcome to the world of us~!

Most units work the same. You need to select new location.
    Then select points of interest
Then select my route and then choose truckstops. That should give you a list of most ts along your route while not interfering with anything else you previously programmed into the qc or gps. If you select my truck instead of my route it will give you every truckstop in every direction for quite a ways. Hope this helps. Also if you have a favorite loves, ta/petroleum or PFJ. They all have apps for smartphones that work pretty well. Good luck

    hello G13Tomcat,
great points, but about the nuvi, I am asking about his trick of using the search. I don't have a nuvi in front of me, but do you click on points of interest and then there is a search bar there available to use and type in pilot and enter?
yeah, I will try to find that truckerpath app and try it. my phone's been rooted and has recovery points, so there is very little risk. maybe a little inconvenience. sure beats scrambling for a place for the truck.
    thanks for the reply.

@str8t10 spelled it out perfectly for you. I took mine along when I was OTR as a backup, as well. Read above. A little "mini-programming" on your part, but well worth it. I now use the DZL in the truck, and the Nuvi in the Jeep... but it's still spot-on.

    hello str8t10,

    I live in syracuse.
right, I know you usually need to put location. the garmin tends to remember the last state you were in and defaults to that state. I am wondering if the search function is available during the use of 'points of interest', if the search icon remains. But you have me thinking about the next time I use it, to look if that is offered.

    thanks for the reply

    thanks again Tomcat and TruckerJimbo.

is it true that walmart lets you park there to shut down? I have heard conflicting info.

My RM TND 720 has very similar features as well in the POI menu. I have them on by default so It's become a view that I see all the time, so I forgot about those. LOL

Just one of the many tools that are out there for a simple steering wheel holder like myself to use. :p

yep. books are great, but when you are leaving NYCity, you need things that are within your reach at the moment. the device stuck to the window is an excellent way to go.

    thanks Nukem
