Otr has this big problem. Choices are very limited. Fried food, burgers or pizza. I try to eat healthy but sometimes you gotta eat whats available. Restaurants for truckers are extremely expensive. Trying to cook in the truck is too time comsuming, i dont have that kind of time in my hands. I buy salads from subway most of the time with some rotisserie chicken on top. Long story short i think we need more variety of healthy foods in the truck stops.
last i checked there is a salad bar at every buffet, flying j sells salads an fruit, and fast food joints have grilled chicken without the mayo available. ya i kno that all gets boring, i get bored by excuses
Sometimes you end up in places where there is nothing and actually found yourself being thankful for finding some fried chicken
Takes effort to eat good OTR. Wal Mart will sell food anybody, you just have to take an hour to go get it every 3 or 4 days.
Nor do I . . . lost 30 lbs since November, eating healthy and (trying) not lazy! I still don't think caloric intake is all it's cracked up to be. Then again, I never counted. I substituted french fries, for a Baked Potato with A1 along side my beef.... and salad instead of "pasta salad" .... working so far~!
What is a Ketone's diet? Is that like when Matt McCononahay only ate kale for 8 months and looked like he was going to die?
HAHAHAHA~! Lmao...probably~! It's low carb, and high fat.. ie: eat all the bacon you want, but no toast with your dippy egg. I'd hate to see my heart and my BP after THAT, lol.
Agree.. my mom in her older age, thinks she needs "fruit and fiber" for sustenance..... yea you do, but not totally. I fix her salad with fruit, nuts / pecans, and baked or grilled chicken strips a few times a week, as am able. Other than that; turkey sausage, stir fry veg blend, and rice. She's doing better since getting off the "fruit and oatmeal" diet.
Thanks man.. i'm about EXACTLY your size, but i'm 54.. kinda late to the game. And yes; as I mentioned above, portion control. That's what I had a hard time with. I'd stop home on my 30 (Gawd i love that luxury, i earned it, lol...) and my dinner plate ready, was HALF what I would've served myself. Funny thing is; once I adapted to that, I don't get hungry as quick as I used to... whatsoever. What I didn't get on my 1st plate, is there for me when I get home, in the morning. Baked chicken casserole for breakfast, with caesar salad? SURE!! Better than a pound of bacon and a dang egg on the Ketone diet. It's all the rage here with the teens; glad mine are thin anyway, LoL~!
