I'm no radio guru, but I would say because of line of sight. Radio signals travel in a straight line, and maybe the one you can't hear is down in a valley.

Anyone else wanna take a shot?:)

Most sites say CB radios do work on a line of sight, with a typical range of 5 miles( a CB was never intended to be a long distance radio) depending on the terrain. Reason you can't hear the one person, is maybe the person you can't hear is miles from the person you can hear. You could always get a "turbocharger", but watch out for "Uncle Charley".:biggrin_2559:

Peaked is when power is turned up or added
Tuned is when the radio is tested and/or adjusted so that it is tuned on right freq. as opposed ti off a little making it bleed onto another channel or affecting quality of transmission
