the second reason i want to change it cause i have .42 rears and i put 11R tires ... so if the speed limit 55 its pretty hard for a truck an 10 and to high rmps an 9 gear ....
I have a 10 speed and at 55 in 9th gear is perfect. In fact, I get my best fuel mileage in 9th at 57mph
I was thinking about regearing the too tall ratio with taller tires and running in 9th, or switching to 255/70 drives from 275/80/22.5s. Too tall would work fine with the DD15, but lugged the Series 60 14liter too much. According to the tags; the final ratio and trans ratios were the same but the trucks act much different to drive. By calculation, the Cascadia is correct.
Been running a 15210 trans behind my 525 hp 1750 torque for over a year and it is fine, like they are saying gentle gentle nice shifts and starts. I have an 18918 sitting in the shop on the tranny jack and just about got everything else gathered up for the swap, drive line has to be shortened yes, the back section on a 13 or 18 adds some inches not much but enough, I just like the gear selections in an 18 and found a screamin deal on it , winter project
Hey JYJ, if you don't mind, when you get your winter project going, could you do a whole write up and take pics of the process as its going and before and after pictures?
You are not going to bust the case in the upper gears . If it can handle 1650 time 13.5 to one . Running higher torque babying it should be fine.
I never really thought about it but sure, I can do that. I am going through everything when in there , rear main, check all the linkage and set up a new clutch and cooler. So it will be an in depth project but ya sounds good J-J
