    hi all,
i have a cdl class a and wish to change it to an ohio cdl. Any one who has changed their cdl to ohio did you have to retake all the written test for cdl (knowledge test 1&2, combination, airbrake etc)
i know illinois and mass requires you to to retake ll the tests but some other states only require you to retake the class d knowledge test.
    your reply is greatly appreciated

I thought you just had to show up and change it to an ohio license and not take any test. Try calling the DMV, I'm sure they can tell you for sure.

It varies from state to state. Some require nothing but turning in your old lic. others require you to re-take all the test. Check with you DMV office. The fee will also vary from $25 - $250 . Depending of the state.

I did this recently. I had to retake the CDL basic knowledge test and the Hazmat test. And they also had me take the vision test. Then I paid the fee and got my new CDL. It was actually very simple. I was pleasantly surprised.

    hilliard Thanks this.

If you are in doubt as to weather you can pass the CDL test maybe you NEED to "brush up "on them! You can read the "test questions" at the end of each chapter and that will tell you if you do need to revisit the book! Many of us need to revisit at least once a year! I do for the just in case happens! It does make for good reading on the toilet! LOLOL
