So if you're going inside to shower and eat do you call that say an hour off duty and don't put it to sleeper berth until you get back in? Do you then log on duty to change your duty status and proceed to start your 10 over? Do you log out of sleeper berth and into off duty everytime you sit in the seat to pull your shoes on to head inside to take a leak?

That, to me, is really funny.

After 4 hours I have had enough time to watch a couple shows and make some dinner, probably eating it right about then.
It will still be a couple three hours before I go to sleep.
12 hours between shutting down and driving, and 14 is better.

You don't need to micromanage it that much. The way I've been doing it. Park. Log on duty for my pti. Log off duty for the time it takes to run to the restroom and get some food. Log sleeper when I get back to the truck. When I get up in the morning I go off duty for coffee and restroom. Before I hit the road. No I don't log off duty for every time I get out to go to the restroom.

Well, since there is guidance that states small, infrequent time doesn't need to be logged, then no. You simply follow the law. I know that seems a difficult concept, but hey not everyone is a supertrucker.
And I see you still can't get it in your head the difference between the law and what's practical.....
So here, I'll even post the HOS so you can educate yourself on this very basic knowledge you need to actually be a good driver.

The difference between what's practical and the law? Practical is entirely opinion based, there is nothing practical about the existence of HOS laws, just my opinion and I'm sure you don't want that sort of practicality practiced. Practical is if you're on the road with the truck anywhere, even sleeping in a motel room, you're never really off duty, even while sleeping on your 10 hour break, that is practical. And knowing what the law, made by people who've never driven a truck, think being told to go drive a truck is an insult, says has absolutely nothing at all to do with being an even mediocre driver.

What’s impractical about selecting sleeper birth instead of off duty? It’s the exact same amount of effort.

What's impractical about selecting off duty instead of sleeper berth? Who is going to know if you put it on sleeper berth while fiddling around on your phone in the front seat, specifically what exactly is the difference? Again, there is 0 difference between doing nothing in the front seat, the shower, the motel room or at the restaurant table and the sleeper. The company moving it around means nothing, 8 hours of not working is 8 hours of not working. It's not like they're taking 8 hours of on duty not driving and changing it to 8 hours in the sleeper. And some bearaucrats behind a desk saying it's different doesn't make it different.

Seems to be a case of a driver thats crying, you just said you were in the sleeper, so he did falsify anything, Just tell them what time you can roll, dont make a big deal. Just tell them I can roll at 09:00 where do you want me to take it. Cuz now you sound like a cry baby.. Buck up Better cup and put on your big boy pants and go to work.
