The 2nd amendment applies to the Federal Government not the states.Although most state constitutions have a "right to keep and bear arms" the 10th amendment gives the States the power to make whatever gun laws they want.

The dealership i worked at allowed ccw on site. Mainly because the owner got his ccw so he told everyone that they could carry so that he would not be a hypocrite

    I don't like your Signature....
    I think it's ignorant, socialist and anti-American.
But you are young so, I'll give you some wiggle room.
It's likely you will change your mind when/if you start making some REAL money.
    It's been said....

If you are young and conservative...you have no heart.
If you are old and liberal....you have no brain.

    Actually, capitalism means....

    cap·i·tal·ism

       /ˈkæpɪtlˌɪzəm/ Show Spelled[kap-i-tl-iz-uhm] Show IPA
noun an economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange of wealth is made and maintained chiefly by private individuals or corporations, especially as contrasted to cooperatively or state-owned means of wealth.

    And to even further educate....

    Word Story
It is easy to forget that capitalism was coined not so long ago, in the mid-19th century, when the Industrial Revolution was in full swing, and individual entrepreneurs were creating new industries and amassing wealth. Terms for the other two major competing economic systems of the past two centuries' socialism and communism'were also coined around the same time. Also, about the same time it became common to designate all such coinages as "isms": terms formed by adding the suffix -ism to a root word in order to expand its meaning to encompass a related system, theory, or practice. Thus from a fairly old word, capital, the relatively newer word, capitalism, was formed to describe the then emerging economies of the West. (Another towering ism coined later in the 19th century was, of course, Darwinism. )
On the surface, the meaning of capitalism seems straightforward, referring to an economic system in which private individuals, rather than governments, own property and businesses. But beneath the surface, strong currents of opinion and theory swirl about the term. Many people fiercely espouse capitalism as an economic freedom inseparable from democracy, as reflected in several books considered classics and still avidly read today: for example, Capitalism and Freedom by Nobel laureate Milton Friedman (first published in 1962), and Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy by Joseph A. Schumpeter (first published in 1943). So it may be a challenge to use the term without triggering a discussion of its broader political context.

Every time I hear about this, I refer to the advice that my grandfather said:

"Its better to be tried by twelve than carried by six."

As I said in another thread: I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Illinois doesn't have any differentiation between commercial and non-commercial vehicles when it comes to transporting a firearm. If you are an Illinois resident, the firearm must be unloaded, fully enclosed in a case, and you must have your FOID card with you. There is no rules regulating the transportation of ammunition, other than that it cannot be in the gun. You can have a loaded magazine, so long as the magazine is not in the gun. The magazine can even be in the case with the gun, so long as it is not in the gun. The case containing the unloaded firearm and the loaded magazine can be on the seat next to you, just as long as you have your FOID.

If you are NOT an Illinois resident, you won't have a FOID. In this case, the firearm must be unloaded, in a case, and inaccessible....as in a separate compartment, disassembled, or in any other way not immediately able to be put into use. There is still no rules regulating the transportation of ammunition....but what good will the ammunition do you if you can't get to your firearm?

Have you read the 10th Amendment? All it says is that any powers not delegated to the federal government under the Constitution, nor prohibited by the Constitution to the States, are reserved to the States and the People. In other words, if the Constitution states the federal government holds a certain power, it is not a power the state has. Also, if the Constitution prohibits the state from exercising a certain power, it is not a power that the state has.

"...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Sounds like a prohibition to me.

I'm learning something new everyday...thanks. Your interpretation makes more sense to me now. I made made my choice in who to work for...so no carry for me...but your information is still good to know if/when I work for someone that will allow CCW.
