Its tough to do out there! You drive for 11 hours a day and when you are done you are exhausted and don't feel like doing anything except sleeping. So its very important to really push yourself to stay active. Plan an exercise routine every day for at least 30 min. Once you get a routine down you will find it easier doing it every day. Same goes with your eating habits. Its a hell of a lot easier to use your rewards card and eat cheap buffet food that takes no time out of your day. Its a lot harder to schedule time to go to walmart and buy fruits and vegetables and good food for you and plan a week or two of meals. Yes its a big pain in the butt! That's why you see so many truckers well over 350lbs!

One time when my wife and I were over the road she had gotten a bad cold so we stopped at a hospital so that a doctor could see her and get some antibiotics. When we were there we got into a long conversation with the DR. about trucking and he was really interested in what went on out there and our stories. He then started sharing his truck driver stories and they consisted of over a hundred drivers a month being brought to his emergency room for heart attacks! A good many of them never left! I think he said about a little more than half his trucker patients died from a heart condition. What was real alarming was that those were the statistics for just that particular symptom. There were many, many other things that he said were just as bad or life threatening that were related to truck drivers and bad choices. He also had told us that truck driving just in itself was bad on the body and that even if you were a health nut you still had the odds stacked against you. From heart attack, to diabetes, blood clots, strokes etc... Another factor besides the no exercise, bad diet, stress and such was the odd hours of sleep which can mess with your natural Circadian Rhythm. Your Circadian Rhythm is basically your bodies natural clock. This rhythm is responsible for the timing of your heart beat!

So though its tough, try to do your best out there. You will feel a hell of a lot better!

I would google "<town> health clinic". Almost every town has a walk in health clinic. Many are in or around shopping centers which you could find parking. I usually park around back them type of places. Out of sight, out of mind. Or drop your empty trailer at a TS and bobtail.
