My insurance company denied our newest driver because he doesn't have 2 years experience. We tried 3 others and they all refused. He has a perfect MVR. The last company said statistically most accidents happen with drivers with less than 2 years driving big rigs. I guess that is why they have the 2 year mimimum requirement. Only companies with more than 50 trucks can insure a driver with less than 2 years. We have 5 trucks, so we can't even use him as a reluctant driver on a team truck.

Well if they told you "Sorry, it'll be a few hours, the truck we're gonna put you in has to be cleaned out because the previous driver was the crazy cat lady and her cats peed all over everything"

    Or

"Sorry, they'll be cleaning out the truck for a while yet. The guy who was in the truck before you was a filthy slob who never took a shower and he used the upper bunk as a trash can. They're still working on getting rid of the maggots"

i'll post pictures of what happened the other day.

    this, kids, ain't funny.

my wife and i were on vacation in pennsylvania on i-70. near washington, there's a huge dust cloud and i see a tractor trailer cross the median a few hundred feet ahaed of us. i slammed on the brakes and got stopped just short of an england tractor that had turned over and skidded on it's side into our lanes of traffic completely blocking the eastbound lanes.

another motorist and myself helped the THREE DRIVERS out. the kid driving was hanging by his seatbelt. he was probably 25 years old, in shock, and practically delerious. an old guy was shaken up, and another younger guy was messed up with a huge bruise on his forehead and not making any sense. THAT guy was in trouble and showing signs of major shock. in short, he appeared to be on his way to dying.

i was a medic for the national hot rod assn. at indy for several years, as well as a firefighter and medic years ago. i've seen stuff like this a time or two. when the ambulance arrived, the medic on board also realized the condition of the guy with head trauma, and called for medi-vac.

i stayed with the driver, who, get this, was driving on his paper temp. c.d.l., and who told me it was his first trip. think about it. he could have been allowed to drive in maryland or ohio where there's straighter roads and wider berms in case the kid had a problem, but his trainer chose pennsylvania with it's non existant on ramps, 2 foot wide berms, and deeps ravines in the median.

the load of chocolate they were hauling (probably at max weight for a cheap rate) was spilled all over I-70, the tractor and trailer were trashed, and 3 people were hospitalized, several people, including my wife and i, had our lives put in jeapordy, and other drivers were stranded for hours.

this over a company that in my opinon, ought to be shut down and a few of the big shots there put in jail for recklessly putting people in harms way. i also wonder how shippers and receivers feel about having their goods spilled all over the road.

i think if you drive for an outfit like this, you are either too inexperianced, or stupid to be out in traffic. there has to be better companies out there. i really felt sorry for all three, but the kid who was driving seemed like a real nice person, real scared, and really screwed by people who should have known better. like i said, i have pictures of the medical helocopter landing, and will post them here, and a bunch of other places soon.

yeah, it's all a joke. and then, somebody got killed.

by the way, a few months ago an england driver pulled off the road for some reason, then pulled back into traffic doing about 15 miles per hour. he killed this guy.

    http://www.fox59.com/news/wxin-one-killed-in-semi-crash-on-i6-01132011,0,6420164.story

i passed the accident on my way to work. the cab of the y.r.c. truck was crushed into the trailer. the thing is, the moron who killed the y.r.c. driver could have safely stopped 3 miles up the road where there are 2 truck stops. here's hoping the family of the driver who was slaughtered gets a bundle. it won't bring back their loved one, but they deserve something. and the england driver, in my opinion, needs to be charged with reckless homicide and put in prision for a very long time.

This is one &#%$ of a generalization.

Let me ask: Where are inexperienced drivers supposed to get experience if they are not allowed to drive? How did you get yours?

I happen to drive a truck with "Leased to:" an outfit like that. Just ask our experts. They'll tell you how horrible Swift is, too. So, I suppose that means I'm "too stupid to be out in traffic" since I did manage to acquire the experience. Oh. Wait. That's right. I acquired that experience in traffic. Otherwise, I would be ....inexperienced, right?

I'm not saying I'm the perfect driver. Nobody is perfect. But that name on the wagon I haul does not define me. Neither does the name on a CRE wagon define the driver behind the wheel. I don't care for their general practice of sending two rookies with permits out with one trainer. As far as I know, CRE is the only one of the "megas" that does this. The others send their noobs out one-on-one for personal attention.

Regarding little companies not being able to hire people with less than two years: nonsense. I had just a year in and went to a little three-truck mom n pop. While I was there, Boss-Man decided to get his CDL. I helped teach him a few tricks of big-truck truckin. As far as insurance goes, they wanted a little more information on me, but when they saw my record for the past 20 years, they okayed me. They didn't turn a hair when Boss-Man was driving around with his drivers on a permit.

Do I think 6 rolls in a week is good? Not on your life. I might question the training methods. But that's without any information on the drivers. The one described was a noob. We don't know whether the other five were ten-year veterans or not.

And finally, that comment about noobs being in the bulk of collisions. Yep. Without a doubt. But what kind of collisions are rookies involved in and what kind of collisions are vets involved in? When it's broken down, you would see noobs involved in the vast majority of parking lot and backing mishaps. When you look at catastrophic highway-speed crashes, you'll see the noobs and veterans sharing equal responsibility and equal involvement. I'm going to cite the same un-named and un-linked study as above: none. Just truck-stop-talk and personal observation.

So the original post reads, "6 roll overs in one week", but there is no follow up on the facts of this post. Unless I missed something here, I don't see where this "news flash" was substantiated from. But it does show how easy it is to get a lynch mob together to convict without a cause.

My husband got his CDL from a private training outfit, and then had to retrain when he got on with England.

I don't know how things are now, but I know how #### good things worked for BOTH OF US then.

The Gentleman who was his trainer was a WONDERFUL man. A delight to know. I wish we had kept in touch better. He was a Muslim man, who had come here from Afganistan. And his wife came over shortly after.

He not only taught how to drive the truck, but to respect the truck. What it could and could not do, what you could and could and could not do. He took a great deal of pride in 14 years with a SPOTLESS driving record. He could go anywhere, but chose to teach.

He didn't just teach these guys to drive either. He taught each of those men who stepped into his truck a new way of looking at life. Each morning when he stopped for prayers, it was time for quiet. For appreciating the new day. For giving thanks to whatever God you believed in for letting you see this day. No matter where you were. Each evening at sunset was the same ritual.

He wanted to learn as much about the person as he could. About religion as he could.

His wife kept in touch with his student's wives and helped them along this new path.

He openly and loudly condemned the 9/11 attacks. Never mind the fact that he was still being judged by so many other Americans to be "one of them. And despite the fact that he was being condemned as a traitor by others.

If any company had more like him and his wife... I'll bet dollars to donuts the accident rates would go down. And if people like him could instill their sense of gratitude and peace, yes, PEACE, in more people, this world would be alot better off.

The OP seems to have some inside information...

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ng-company-here/149354-cr-england-beware.html

Since he was a former CRE instructor, one might say he's partially responsible for putting these guys out on the road.

Give your ego a rest minivans... you're just a minor irritant in the great scheme of things.
