of the three you listed..i'd forget cr england. way too many negatives from what i've read. swift not as bad as some people say. they are big as some others, so you'll be a number. but just get your one year experience and more door will open up for you. trucking is what you make of it. its not just a job, its a lifestyle change. good luck and be safe

CR England ? They pay 16 cpm !! you will starv
    PRIME; I don't know enough.
CRST; After 5 weeks on a horrible bed bug infested "hotel" (3 to a room) you will go with a trainer for 28 days. You will have no discounts on your paycheck (about $300 a week on a good week) After...22 cpm and with the discounts you probably get NEGATIVE pay check for about 7 months. Hey, CR is worst !!!
Swift ? After school is just about the same than the others.

You will be better off taking time at home going to some community college that offer the program. While there you will have the support of your family (kind of important, isn't it?) and after you graduate, go to a much better company like CRETE,SHAEFER or even if you are energetic enough try HUNT their flatbed division.
    Top of the line school.
Call CON-WAY !!! you will not regret that. They are demanding but will be worth$$$ your time.

    Good luck.

Prime pays $600.00 a week while you're with the driver trainer.

Hey just thought I would throw in my 2 cents. I am 46 and about to leave the military. I have been doing a lot of research on many different companies that are on here. There are a lot of Prime haters but if you read the forums for Prime I think that you will find as I did that Prime has a lot to offer. Put Prime in the search box and read some of the stuff from Iron Pony and Silent Eagle and Easy Steamer. Just a thought to help you out. I am looking at Prime around October.

I plan on heading to Prime in the next few weeks. I'm just waiting on a new copy of my DD214 to come in the mail that I can send to my recruiter down there. My recruiter is ready to schedule me a start date as soon as she gets it. Prime seems like a good choice for me. If you haven't talked to a recruiter yet ask Tammy jones. She has been great to me. Hope to see you there.

Doing the same thing. A little older same background. Being very thorough in my research. Some recruiters don't like that. Asked for bennies sheet w costs. Prime offers higher cpm also higher med costs. Deciding between central ref, prime, swift & Roehl. Roehl requires more up front money. Swift starts @ .25. If don't get the miles cpm is just a number. Recruiter from swift & Roehl very helpful & informative. Prime has no schooling. Go right out w trainer. Can see benefit of class, range practice & road training. I like to practice a lot then head out. We all learn differently. Plan on deciding next week.
    Safe travels

Windows95, I did Southeast Community college in Lincoln, NE 8400 "o" St. nine years ago. Class was from 7:00 am to 1:00pm, (13:00), so I just worked at Wal-Mart 4:00 pm to 10:00pm and 8 hours on the weekend. I had the $800 at the time and was able to pay my own way. I am sure that the cost is higher now but at the time a private school was $5,000 in 4 weeks and SECC was a 10.5 week program. I spent 5 weeks looking for a local job so that I could be home every night and no one would take me without experience so I reluctantly signed on with Crete Carrier.
When I was finished with 8 weeks of training I would say that 80% to 90% of what I am doing comes from my trainer and not the school. The school plus your CDL gives you the opportunity to apply with trucking companies. The better schools will allow you to apply with better companies.
Another option would be either FedEX or Con-Way. At both companies you can start out working the dock and if they like you they will send you to their own school. FedEX has their school somewhere in Minnesota, I don't know where Con-Way has their school.
I don't know how FedEX starts a new driver out working but I have two friends that tried Con-Way. One lasted 2 ½ months and the other lasted 2 ½ years. When it is busy you will work the flex board both working the dock and driving. They will want you to work 14 hours and take 10 off. I am not capable of working like that.

I have had to check out a few companies as well - for school and jobs. What I found out about Prime is that there is a waiting list- up to three years for women.

Swift said they need a 10 year background check free of ALL and Any offenses. \

Stevens said to me- they need me prove I have made over 10,000 per year.- Verify employment- (except that was why I am looking into trucking) Avidavid from unemployment- which was crazy for them to bug me that much about.
Then after all of that retarded checking =- of course they said no.

BY THE WAY- It is awfully hard to learn how to drive an 18 wheeler- in 1 week-!
1st week- is get the permit- ! tests- 1st week is study for the pretrip! ALL IN THE CLASSROOM
2ND week is pre trip tests- driving totals--10 hrs of drive time-
bACKING DRIVE TIME- Pratice (rather) is --2 1/2 hrs of backing!
If you never drove an 10 speed truck- and backed it - it is 12 hrs days in school- saturdays- sundays-
Most of it is classroom assroom.
charge over 3 grand for it- Map reading for 1 1/2 days- what the H for- I know how to read a map.
3- dmv tests tries- 3 backing tests- max- you must pass or you are out!
They put you up in a hotel for 3 days and back to a training center with 3 other roomates-
    just sucks!
