You should, I have always been paid for going to get the truck serviced. I even make them pay me to go out of the way for trailer washouts (when the customer requires them) and anything else they want me to do. Most times I do have to say something and tell them they need to pay me for it, they don't volunteer.

 

That's what gets me. We have to ask them to do their job correctly. I wonder if the AM's get a canned message to check for miles/routing when they assign a load? "Be sure to check your miles and scale your load" haha


EDIT: I was paid for miles to shop. It was on the previous trip instead of next trip; my bad!

 

Looks like after 3500+ for me last week! this week will settle at 2500. Got a 600-miler that I just can't squeeze in with my available hours Friday, so it'll start next weeks tally.

Looks like TJ and I have swapped places.....I can't seem to get a long load now, but the miles are still decent.

 

Well I had me some fun today. After delivering around midnight last night(this morning) I headed to Marietta to get the bunk air fixed around 10. I get there around lunch time so I didn't expect much action from the techs. I go in a grab a shower and start my laundry. Walked back outside to put away my shower bag and my truck was gone! They had already pulled it in and the dude was working on it. I asked if I could throw my bag in the truck and he said "come on" so I took the opportunity to 'splain what wazza goin' on with the a/c. He was a smart cookie and said he thought it was a motor starter I was confused and asked if that would be like a capacitor for a home a/c and he laughed..."I didn't know if you knew about home a/c's" Turns out that is the function of whatever is wrong with mine. So I said "fine just replace it and I will be happy" About an hour goes by and my laundry is almost done. Plus I did my annual review while waiting. I was watching Charlie Wilson's War on my laptop when the tech comes in. "We ain't got the parts or a replacement...it'd be Monday 'fore they here" !! WHAT!!!!! He continued with "They want you to go and see if we got any trucks for you to swap to" I already knew they didn't because I asked the service writer already. They just had a fresh class of recruits let out and all trucks were assigned. So I got on the horn to the shop in Lincoln and they had a replacement bunk air. On the horn to my AM and sure enough there was a t-called load sitting on the yard going to Omaha....close enough! Lay it on me!!

I had an idea! (It happens from time to time) Since I'm going through KC I might as well call them and see if they have a replacement unit. Sho' nuff they do! They even have me penciled in for service on Saturday. So fireworks tomorrow in KC and I'll get to catch the race as well on Saturday night. Plus I will get in a 34 while being paid breakdown. Since this is a recurring problem no wait time on the start of breakdown pay!

Sure I'll be shy some miles but a fresh 70 and a motivated AM I can run hard. Maybe from Omaha I can get back towards SLC for those super miles...haha

 

I got more loads going out west from Omaha than any other town by far. That's why I always accepted loads going there.

 

David from New Kingstown told me the new trade cycle is in September, highest miles go first. Told me usually anything over 450K is on it's way out.

 

Well, I got my load picked up, it has to run at 72 degrees. After weighing it to make sure I was good, I left Ogden, UT and I drove all the way to Big Springs, NE. Sitting here at the Flying J. My current week will end with 2407 miles, but I got my service all done for 25,000 miles and laundry done at the North Salt Lake terminal. Starting the new week off with the 1800+ miler, that delivers Monday morning in Alabama.

Good possibility I will be in Kansas City Friday night also.

Since I can't take another reset, I'll head to the casino and drink 3.2 with the Indians. Irony?
