Since you have a wife, and a daughter at home brother,,,find a company that pulls flatbeds. You will be home most weekends and trust me,,you will stay busy. I drover for TMC and they kept me busy 14 hrs a day and home every weekend. Now, I don't think they take graduates but I know Maverick does. Look around your area for flatbed companies. If you go into teaming, you will be out at least 2 weeks and only get two days off. Sure you will be busy driving but, if you like to work, and be home, go into pulling a flat. Research real good, because you will want to stay a year. Once your year is up, you can go anywhere.
Do you have to attend orientation? (Crst), my physical card expire 6/2015, will they accept that? Tanks
yes you will have to go through orientation, take your long form physical with you cause if you don't you will need to take a new one which is no big deal
I just finished orientation and got my first load thru landstar on my own.i got access to their load board.malone dont have much freight out of the midwest and even the freight they have is cheap.2 dollars per mile in the midwest for short haul is a joke.i live in on the east coast so finding freight going west is always going to be a challenge.if u live in phoenix I dont think malone is a right fit for you unless you willing to stay out for weeks and have experience finding your own loads.if u just got your cdl I suggest the following:look for a local food distribution company or a trash company, thats what I did when I started back in 2004,you will be home most nights and make decent money.
